After the decision to drop the Chrysler 300 SRT from the Chrysler brand’s North American lineup in 2014, the Chrysler Group introduced the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8 engine. Diehard Chrysler fans started begging the automaker to offer its own variant of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, but to no luck. Fast forward 7 years and we have seen a number of people, say “to hell with Chrysler” and build their own using crate engines or salvaged parts from other Dodge Hellcat models.

Any thought of abandoning the 300 sedan is foolish. The 300 remains one of the most stylish sedans, at any price point, on the market. There is and will continue to be a I healthy sedan market and a near luxury sedan from Chrysler that evolves on its classic style-is clearly a winning decision. Built along side Challenger and Charger on its new platform, this elegant, affordable statement of Chrysler elegance is just so logical and necessary for the brand and its loyal customers. To abandon the 300 would be a decision long regretted and foolishly decided by “group think” conformity. Indeed the height of corporate foolishness.. We the wise ones in this discussion collectively await the 2024 Chrysler 300 that logic and passion demands.
 
they sell less than 2 a month per dealership and for less margin then both its sister models..... if there are loyal customers then they are few and far between. Ford foolishly listened to nonsense argument like this when continuing the Continental and it was a blood bath. As such the 300 sedan is dead, killed by a aging and departing demographic, and Fords willingness to go first.

There simple isn't a large enough market to justify the investment, the best hope for the 300 marque is to be reborn as a CUV.

Can not be nice on this one, no way Jose, your just wrong wrong wrong, from your misinterpreted sales numbers, to your off target Lincoln analogy and to your intrenched doom and gloom market analysis of the domestic sedan niche segment and that lingering, ever too harsh language that belittles without merit. I am right. right right on this one and Chrysler people know it, Stellantis decision makers should know it and if I must be so bold, God knows it too. Clearly, the 300 has a unique and viable market segment, a sound business case future to exploit and possibly dominate and my blessing. . I will accept no push back on that from the negative armchair dwellers who spill out their own brand of nonsense which can never stand up to "Willy Wisdom" and that clear, logical, sound wishful thinking that shouts from the roof tops, RIGHT AGAIN WILLY ! No more nice guy today. Today I am pure NO NONSENSE.

Pure Nosense...... you apply your own personal preference to the grander market and you are a extreme minority customer. The model doesn't sell well now, it is margined under it sisters model. No way it returns unless it is a CUV. So type type type... that your right right right.... it has NO business case and you will be disappointed. The Lincoln killed it.

Wishful thinking is not a replacement for actual market realities.

Wrong market realities depends on who and what defines that analysis and many can be found.. I’m not sure what constitutes that data in your reality, could be spot on, but in my reality and my gut on the market, there is a real marketplace for the 300 in its current definition and legacy. That alone it seems calls for a need for a new 300 to test my vision. I’d be disappointed if the 300 is killed prematurely. I refuse, be it wise or foolish, to give up on a car that is so right in so many ways and most importantly has my coveted “Willy Seal of Approval”. Go with my gut on this one Triple. Damn the pencil pushes in that grander market and go with Willy.

The only “gut” that counts at Stellantis at the end of the day is John Elkann.
You not getting North American production of passenger sedans outside of Charger by Stellantis.

Buggy whips were one of the mainstay products in America, and were gas lamps....... Evolve or be very small and niche.
 
As a former/current owner of a Dodge Charger, if I had to choose between a Dodge Charger Scat Pack or a 300 SRT... I would go 300 SRT. I like more upscale options.
 
Like Bill, I think its a big mistake to ax the 300. There are 2 big issues here. One the lack by this company, and previously FCA, not to advertise this car. How many time have you heard people say "they still make the 300?" Second, like the Charger and Challenger, this car has had no updates in years. At least the Dodge Boys have updated the exterior and added all the options and packages, keeping the "old" platform semi-fresh. The only issue with the 300 is the lack of support from the top. Being the only American luxury car out there, sales should be almost double. Shame, shame, shame on Stellantis and FCA for looking a gift horse in the mouth and turning their backs!! A slightly refreshed 300, a bigger Hemi version (call it what ever you want or stick a letter with it) and advertise the heck out of it, those numbers would have sored.
Giving the NEW 2024 Charger a sister Chrysler 300 with all the bell and whistles, and advertise the hell out of it, it will sell. I am with Bill on this one. FCA and Stellantis should be ashamed of themselves!!!!

Ashamed? Too few people share that who actually speak with their wallets instead of on forums. Certainly not enough to justify the investment.

True, money talks. But such a vehicle can spark interest in other vehicles in the lineup like a 300S V6 who can't afford something like an SRT.

The problem is they rather not sell the V6 instead of higher content V8 cars. They really don't want to sell 300S V6s they want to sell fully loaded cars with the high margin powertrain, not value packages... which as it is pre-covid was 2 or less per dealership

Here is the problem with 300 besides the failure of the Ford.

* the Heritage styling has limited evolution.

*aging demographic

*low transaction price, value buyers looking for traditional luxury (not the same as launched when performance buyers had interest)

* High margin Luxury buyers have moved to the more comfortable tall cars (SUV and CUV)

Look, I am not anti-300 in any way, but I am pro-reality. Here we have a very passionate group, the general public, at least those willing to talk with wallet it not passionate about the 300 high value models. While we chide the Bean counters, they have the actual market research, they have the purchasing trends. The market abandoned the product before for the company, selling a 300 value package instead of Loaded Charger is bad business. The job of the company is not fill each niche of a individual buyer, it is to make money. Luxury has moved on, the best bet for the brand is to move where the money is so it can exist in the future.

Cool car, collectors item for sure one day...

I think this is the sticking point between you and us posting here. The bean counters are the ones who abandon the 300 and left her out to dry. If they continued to advertise, and do minor updates, keep the car in the showroom, the numbers they are using may have been quite different. I am 56, and have been a Mopar guy years before my first car, a Plymouth at that. We MF how Daimler used Chrysler to steal money for their products, but yet they never starved Chrysler (or Dodge at that) of cars. It was not until Fiat/FCA "merg" that Chrysler was stripped of vehicles down to nothing, or should I say two vehicles. Can't blame the market at that. So you/they want to get rid of the convertable, mid-size (200), and full-size (300) then replace it with something that the market is calling for. You have many vehicles in your barn that can be converted to Chrysler SUVs or cross-overs. There is talk that this may happen. When? When the brand is forgotten about? To late then. I do understand what you are saying, but these bean counters saw this coming, yes that is also part of their job, projecting the market, and doing nothing to correct it, up date a product or replace it, that there is no excuse. If I am looking for a product, and a store does not advertise it, I wont be going to that store to buy it, no mater how many they may have on the shelf, simply because I don't know they have it. I will go some where else to buy something close or something different. Same thing with cars. If Chrysler builds it and someone who wants it but does not know they have it they will be going somewhere else for a similar car. Sergio Marchionne killer Chrysler. He was no Lee Iacocca!!!

Last thing first,you conflate Chrysler the business with Chrysler brand. Sergio is by far away the best CEO for Chrysler and your Chrysler brand would have already been discontinued in 2009 inside of a Bankruptcy liquidation.

Second in case you haven’t been noticing, they need the capacity those passenger cars take up to make more RAM, more Jeep’s at higher prices vs previous versions (Wrangler JL VS Wrangler JK).

Third and final:you in another thread did complain about pricing while not understanding the Company priority in North America is higher pricing (segments that have higher prices,Trim levels with higher pricing, options that have higher pricing, etc) to gain best North American OEM Margins.
Despite that you continue to lobby for Subprime/value/Low-Ticket products with is totally backwards in with cost of new regulatory technology+ inflation .
 
I was there (at tier 1 supplier that would only take cash) when the NY private equity company was hours away from from liquidating Jeep (un-named Chinese company), Ram (yes Ram they had already divided it up) to Nissan, and the Minivans to VW. Dodge and Chrysler were dead the assets to be auctioned off. Fiat and SM rode in the at the last minute... literally and not only save the brand Chrysler but the collection of companies Daimler pilfered nearly to death. So when people like Mike201 says stuff like that it is purely born of ignorance. (and no you can't google it, it not stuff that even now I am that comfortable disclosing). Lee was a self promoting ass. The K car and Minivan were well along when he showed up and nearly killed the minivan for a Ranger copy. He was a tyrant at the design house slapping hands on anything creative that wasn't a landau roof and wire wheels. Lutz and Gale changed the culture and brought in a renaissance of the company that rivalled the best of days, Their reward was to be kicked to curb by that jealous and pompous jerk, for Bob freaken Eaton.

Yeah SM was no Lee, that for sure he took a corps and turned it into the envy of NA, he took the company from the low prime discount brands to one where people are now complaining they can't afford. Why this criticism.... BECAUSE cars don't sell at margin and your fellow consumers don't want them..... but but its not fair Jeep get all the CUV and SUV.... Yeah, because the company is in business to make money fill consumer needs, and the consumer prefers JEEP be on the front and willing to pay for it.

So it complete wrong to complain.... They aren't making my favor brand car anymore, and I can't get a deal for it compared to the other brands.... boo hoo hoo.... no ya won't

The proper complaint or ask is when Chrysler will get the Passport or Airflow so it has something competitive and unique to offer? I am on board with that.

Asking them to lose money to make one personal favorite........ Yeah you need get 100K friends and be will to pay margin to make that happen.

But he was smart enough to buy our precious Jeep jewel. Lee was no saint, but hells bells, he saved the company before hero SM got his turn at it. Say what you want, it’s a fact. Company would not have been around to hand over to bone head Eaton if Iacocca hadn’t been a shrewd business man.

Only for Chrysler business to need saving again in 2009.
2009 is way closer to 2022 than 1978.
