Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) stablemates Matt Hagan and Ron Capps qualified No. 1 and No. 2 aboard their Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Cars, while Cruz Pedregon extended his season-long streak of qualifying in the top half of the eliminations ladder with a sixth-place seeding.

Quarter final finish, talk about putting lipstick on a pig. The DSR operation is having a disappointing start to this season and something is wrong. Mopar has decided, perhaps for cost considerations, to put all their eggs in one basket with DSR. It seems the Fuel Dragsters, The funny cars and factory showdown stock Drag Pack Challengers entries are all having issues, that is telling. I have confidence that things will get better, but perhaps there is more to this than just a disappointing start. Mopar fans expect more than lipstick to make things better.
