The other day, we showed you exclusive pictures of the upcoming entry-level 2022 Jeep® Wagoneer Series I. While we did get a lot of both positive and negative feedback from fans, the $57,995 entry-level model might not be for everyone. So today, we are looking at the complete opposite side of the spectrum for the new Wagoneer sub-brand.

Looks great... Other than it being labeled a Grand Cherokee in all of the pics.
 
It’s satisfying to have some of your opinions validated or acknowledged, and this Grand Wagoneer does just that for me I believe. I commented on the drab base Wagoneer, dressed down for testing and agreed with many, that it did nothing in that garb to elevate the line. But here in we see a stunning, certainly costly, Grand Wagoneer that does justice to the brand and the halo model this line was designed to fill. Acknowledged as a “sub-brand” by our author Wagoneer expands the Jeep brand into serious territory and in so doing makes it clear that Jeep has lofty goals on a global scale. The explosion of updates and launches, electrification and new markets speaks to a determined Jeep that is driving to be the best selling vehicle brand in the world, period. As I stated, it may be premature to bet for or against these ambitions to be an SUV brand that is THE global sales leader but Jeep’s intentions are not modest or geographically limited, they are in it full bore. My losing wagers yesterday on the Derby makes it clear I have no place gambling on anything, but the stakes I laid out for Jeep can’t be lightly dismissed or bet against. As I said, “stay tuned”.

I hate to say it because I was looking forward to the wagoneer being released, until I saw it. Jeep makes some of the best looking vehicles on the road but the wagoneer and grand wagoneer are the least attractive vehicles made by Jeep, maybe ever.
 
Still can’t get over the “front wheel drive” proportions of the GW (I’ve even seen one “in person” up close). Specifically the “extended” front overhang which is not typical for a Jeep. Quite a departure from the look/proportions of the past RWD based Jeeps e.g. current Grand Cherokee (WK2), WK, ZJ & XJ. Maybe trying too hard maximizing cabin space?
 
Got passed by a GW yesterday, bearing Michigan plates, heading southbound towards Indy on I-69, south of Ft Wayne. First one I've seen IRL.
 
A few days ago on the previous post on the stripped Wagoneer story, I made comment how they were comparing it to the smaller Tahoe. Someone commented to my statement, the Grand Wagoneer will be bigger and go after the Suburban and Escalade. Although there is no mention here of the bigger wheelbase on the GW. Not sure how many people will shell out over $100k for something less impressive than a Escalade or even the Lincoln Navigator.
I see a double whammie here for Jeep. Putting out this expensive GW the same time as the new 3 row Jeep Grand Cherokee. Bad move on Jeeps part. I think sales for the new Grand Cherokee are going to kill it and this is going to be very low seller. Then again many of the decisions coming out of FCA in the last few years have not been the best. Let’s hope the merger fixes things for the better for its Mopar arm!!!

W/GW shares a platform with DT Ram, so it's not necessary to be a huge seller. Ram is the big seller for that specific platform.
 
I believe they should of done a high end woodgrain look to the outside as an option to lay homage to the original Grand Wagoneer.

Unrealistic expectation in the 21st century, and something the aftermarket can handle with films/wraps. If that was really going to sell, MOPAR would be selling it if it wasn't going on factory.
 
Not sure about those wheels, the spoke spacing seems off, borderline asymmetrical with four of the spokes being wider than the others, with the two thinner spokes on each side. Too busy.

The 2014-2017 and 2018-2021 WK2 Summit wheels are much better.

My closing statement on both these Grand Wagoneer blogs were identical, "stay tuned". That clearly was sage advice since for now, how the Wagoneer will be received is really so much speculation. I predicted the dialogue would be extensive and diverse on this topic and indeed it is true. I am determined to contribute ongoing to that process and to your valued opinion I must disagree. Pointedly, as I believe from what I have seen on these pages so far, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer certainly is more than a match for the competition from Cadillac and Lincoln and Range Rover and Mercedes et-al but I will also predict that sales will be very strong for the segment. What I am also confident of is that the Wagoneer line will bolster the Jeep brand with a vehicle that makes the country club crowd proud to have the valet park and delver theirs for the always attentive membership critics. "Mine is the silver Wagoneer" will be common speak soon enough in the "right places"". Stay tuned.
