One can only speculate as to how the merger will impact our domestic product, but thanks to our detectives at Insiders, we can never know too much about things Peugeot and it’s associated brands. At this point I am resting much of my hopes for the Chrysler brand on spinning off, rebranding and restyling some of these products as well as refreshing the current 300 and creating an SUV off the Pacifica. Those familiar with a highly imaginative plan I’ve championed with others, to move the Cherokee to a shortened Grand Cherokee platform, thus freeing up the current Cherokee facility to build the transplanted Peugeots as Chrysler’s there, will be keenly interested. Yes there is a way foreward for Chrysler and much of it could be found at Peugeot. Keep us informed Mopar Insider detectives, there is so much in our partners portfolio to stir our imaginations and hopes.

Yep , no chance of coming to North America, safety standards, ties to Nissan plus the U.S. Chicken tax.
 
I think it is a positive indicator that Stellantis is investing in local manufacturing. A truck like this wouldn't do well here, hopefully there will be a similar sized Ram product for our side of the ocean.

I would not discribe this truck as very bad, but I agree it is unsuitable for our domestic market. What is significant is the potential of something in their offerings, even some technology, that can be used in our domestic brand products. We need to keep informed and open minded to that prospect. Desperate Chrysler brand loyalists like myself are open to anything that can rescue our beloved brand. It’s called a cry for help.

European metric ton pick up is exactly the same as North American midsize pickup.

No difference or no much difference.

But this project is for China, maybe South East Asia, maybe North America.

I'm wondering if they will poach someone from the outside as the next CEO. I would not exclude such outcome.

I think the next Merger will be the real answer for the CEO.

For me the funniest part is about Carlos as the super CEO.

I don't have such opinion. He ruined PSA in 2 out of 3 markets.
He pushed CAPEX down

CAPEX is IMO very important if you want to be strong player in some segments like premium and luxury.
And as you know late Sergio had the plan to push CAPEX up.

Carlos wants to keep Stellantis CAPEX at the same level. Level where in 2020 FCA beat PSA in CAPEX 3 or even 4 to 1.
You know where I'm heading with this.

Not to mention that Carlos bad mouthed Italian side of the new Group and almost said that their electrification efforts are worth nothing.

Good thing with John remembering his grandfather, makes him more likely want the CEO position, it otherwise one of the biggest career gaps between Gianni and John .
On Capex ,Sergio was going to push Capex down as apart for FCA-GM merger.

Just not familiar with the CAPEX terminology, please clarify. Meshing different nationalities, cultures and business philosophies always is a challenge. The Italians did pretty well, the Germans started well and succomed to their biases, let’s hope the French can overcome theirs. Attacking leadership in their initial effort is not helpful or fair. As one famous victim of bias once said, “can’t we all just get along?” A heck of a lot is riding on this merger.
 
Seems massively underpowered for any kind of truck work. Just for some comparison:
A 4 cylinder Jeep has 295 ft lbs and 270 hp.
A Ford Ranger has 270 hp and 310 ft lbs.

The Ranger sold outside North America is a work truck and most likely has about the same specs as the Lantrek. The EB Ranger as sold in America wouldn't last long in Africa. Many Jeeps are sold overseas with smaller diesels. I remember seeing slant sixes and 318 V8s in 3/4 and 1 ton Dodge pickups. This was back in the days of carburetors. My 1974 D100 pickup was powered by a 318 two barrel with 150hp and 260 ft/lbs of torque, and that 318 V8 was used in class C motorhomes as well.
