Oh and yes, the AAM thing was the other moronic comment you made. Thanks for reminding me….the AAM axles are the best thing they ever went to!
I haven't laughed so hard for a long time. This is the best thing they ever went to? ....using axles by a company spun off from GM, the worst driveline company in the industry? How crazy of me to want a 9.5 Dana 60 when I can have this awesome 9.25 AAM unit in the front of my truck....lol
Nobody on this forum has purchased and taken delivery of the new truck.....so, nobody here is a customer and can have opinions, questions, concerns about it? ....does that include you too?
1. 48RE - Dodge kept using this "updated" one long after their competitors were using 5 and 6 speeds; which makes for pulling a heavy trailer with 3 power gears a PITA especially at 9k ft where I live. They fell behind the competition until 2007. In true Mopar fan fashion; "they are strong!!!" Who cares; 4sp overdrives suck; technology changed and they fell behind, which they are doing again. I'm fully aware of the 47RE, and what I have in mine....unfortunately.
2. 68RE - Ram de-tuned the Cummins and lowered the tow rating to accommodate this transmission(The SO version....lol). I could write a lot about this thing but why bother; I have it, I use it, it sucks, it's obsolete as a diesel transmission especially in the 3500 dually I own, and has been for 10 years. My truck is a 69k mistake, a POS compared to my neighbor's '22 Super Duty, and I will eventually dump it for something better.
3. Aisin - Ram charged a 3k premium to do what their competition did standard. The transmission was less then ideal and required de-reving between shifts to keep it together based on everything I read about it. I guess it gets the job done, but it is an old tired inefficient dog that can't be tuned and needed to be put to rest much sooner. After I really dug into the Aisin, I learned more about it, and compared it to what else was out there, I felt it was the wrong decision in '22. I personally thought dropping $86k on a truck with an obsolete transmission was foolish, so I informed my sales guy that I'll come back when the truck is updated to industry standards. So, here we are....I'm looking.
4. People generally do care if a person is a long time customer and has actually owned the stuff as apposed to someone who hasn't. Well, you might not care but given some of the other reactions I've seen in response to you in other posts....well, I'll just leave it at that.
5. Will I order the new truck? We'll see; I've been waiting three years for it to come out and I will take a closer look at it. I can't say that I am too excited about anything that Stallantis is doing so it would need to be pretty good to earn my business back. I will be replacing my '18 before the Mopar extended warranty expires because it's a POS.
