2023 Compass getting new motor

Apparently it's detuned and will only offer 200hp. Still a good improvement over the 2.4.

I wonder if turning it has something to do with that, less room for exhaust and intake, they also need to be careful not to outperform the Tonale and Hornet

The one good news item to date since the merger.

I think that's the main reason, and the Compass will still be cheaper than both of those, no?
Also, with that transmission rated to 300Nm, it probably won't be easy to just repro the engine to the numbers it has on the Hornet.

I'm not sure about 300 NM but seeing the name of this transmission as 8F30 I would say so. In FCA's nomenclature number 8 stands for number of gears while 30 is for torque which would mean 300 Nm.

I mean... Whomever designed this transmission it was on the plans for many years now. It's nothing which came from the clear sky.

I was surprised by the choice of transmission because the front drive Compass used an Aisin built unit. The previous generation used a Hyundai built 6-speed to replace the CVT, so this isn't without precedent.

Sorry, haven't been posting things in the forums for the past few days.
