Jeep® has officially kicked off production of the all-new 2026 Compass (J4U) at Stellantis’ Melfi Assembly Plant in Italy. This marks the beginning of a new era for Jeep’s compact SUV lineup, combining legendary off-road capability with advanced electrified powertrains, modern design, and an expanded global footprint.

Before we learned all of the details of the GME-T4 EVO, I was left wondering what the IC engine offering was going to be. We also have received a good understanding of what the hybrid system is for the North American Compass, based on what Jeep has shown us with the Cherokee. Now I'm left wondering what transmission will be attached the Hurricane 4 cylinder engine.

Wondering too Pat, but so far Jeep is surprising me on what is coming.
I’m really impressed, with the Compass, much more so than with the Cherokee, they have really created something special…IF.
The big if for Jeep is if the just launched Hurricane four is offed as the ICE option in both these new Jeeps. If yes, a game changer. If no, we have a big, big problem. Super cautious with the hybrid combo now launching in the Cherokee. Loving the looks and interior on the Compass, less so both efforts on the Cherokee. Love the 2026 Grand Cherokee, but must wait for the next generation STLA Large GC coming soon, I believe first test driving is critical on all. Though I want bigger in my next Jeep. And much more luxury. And Jeep to get this right.
As to the Compass, it’s really well done and it will set records globally and here in the states too, I predict. Hope that both the Compass and Cherokee get the Hurricane 4 and the next generation Grand Cherokee gets the Hurricane Six so I can really be conflicted. IF it all surprises and happens.
My what ifs are just that, but what if Jeep is listening to this voice crying in the wilderness and what if Jeep gets it right as the cards now unfolding cautiously as written by me as a nice prediction, actually a necessity happen for real.
Just wondering Pat.

No mechanical AWD, slower and less intuitive infotainment system then on the outgoing model

Welcome PSA and f*** off!
