In a groundbreaking achievement, the Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC) and Italy’s Politecnico di Milano have set a new world speed record for autonomous vehicles. A specially modified Maserati MC20 Coupe, driven entirely by artificial intelligence, reached an astonishing 197.7 mph (318 km/h) at the Space Florida Launch and Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This speed shatters the previous record of 192.8 mph (310 km/h), set by the IAC’s AV-21 racecar in 2022.

I’ve seen only three of these but it sounded pretty hot. Looked at one at my local Maserati dealer and the price tag was way, way out of my league. Guess I’ll have to settle for seeing them around and drooling. Not many out there sadly.
