Tim Kuniskis Says “No” to Stellantis CEO Role

Ram's Top Executive is All About Trucks, Not Titles...

Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram Trucks, has made it clear that he’s not interested in becoming Stellantis’ next CEO. Following Carlos Tavares’ sudden departure, speculation began swirling about who might fill the role, with Kuniskis’ name among those mentioned. However, in an interview with Newsweek, Kuniskis dismissed the possibility, saying, “Some people love business, and some love politics, but I love products.”

Why would he want to be the ceo of Stellantis, when they will probably spin CDJR brands off. And then he can run North America brands as ceo.

makes sense, wish he'd take over Dodge as well! With Tim and the Helm of those two brands everything would be fine. Would be cool if Ram came back home to Dodge

He's exactly what Stellantis needs in a CEO. We need a product guy. Someone who loves making great cars and trucks that not only inspire the workers but the car buying public as well. Unfortunately, when you have factories and interests in major global markets where needs and politics are different, it does get tricky to say the least. I understand why he is resisting that role.

I really would love to see Tim become the CEO but on the backend I think there’s one issue at hand that I think Tim really wants to stay away from. That is Chrysler. I think right now it’s a 50-50 shot that Chrysler will either survive or be axed within the next few years. Chrysler will either see an influx of vehicles 2 to 3 more vehicles added to their portfolio or they will have nothing but the minivan. The minivan can be moved back to Dodge or Ram if Chrysler becomes a thing of the past. I think Tim being the big Mopar guy that he is and the car guy that he is he doesn’t want his name attached to the end of Chrysler. Because a decision is probably gonna come under the next CEO. I don’t think Tim wants to be that guy attached to the end of the Chrysler name plate.

Chrysler has been a year away from the abyss since the 70s, aside from a brief time in 90s, and early in the 300C. The current issues date back to Daimler downgrading it to avoid stepping on Mercedes and then killed Plymouth and made it Plymouth. People just can't seem to get past that only people the regard it a premium brand are aging out of the Market. It pretty secures at this time as the Minivan brand, and can absorb products that don't belong at Dodge or Jeep.

As for Tim... he is a product guy, but his hands are not completely clean on a current product issues. A lot can blamed on Pepe but not it all. I think the best CEO would be Italian/American that can navigate the politics cross continent, we don't need someone who is culturally French. They do not understand car culture in the way American, Italians, or even Germans do.
