Here Is How Dodge Could Have Launched The New Charger Better

Rethinking The Strategy For A Smoother Rollout...

As of November 1st, Dodge has yet to fully launch its all-new, all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona. This highly anticipated vehicle marks Dodge’s first electric vehicle (EV) entry and represents a massive step into a new era for the brand. With its legacy tied closely to high-performance V8 muscle cars, Dodge faces a challenge: keeping its loyal fans satisfied while transitioning toward electrification. It appears, however, that Dodge could have saved itself a lot of trouble if it had approached this transition differently.

I agree!

The logic has to have been people want the new Charger so much they will actually buy electric. I don't believe that to be true.

I think the only way to sell an electric Charger is to only make an electric Charger, and that is still a very small market.

I hope I'm wrong.

One of the best articles I have read on how the new Charger launch SHOULD have been done!!! This well spelled out plan would have been perfect. What is going on right now is spelling DISASTER!!!

Really, you have to think these guys are being paid a hefty salary, probably with degrees in marketing and they blow this whole thing up. That is stunning and outrageous. I disagree on the model names, the old designations resonate as pure Dodge, but I think you could have the Daytona R/T - E, Daytona Scat Pack- E with slightly altered badging and then the Six Pack GT with RWD, Six Pack R/T with AWD and Six Pack/Scat Pack with AWD. Just a thought.
It just goes to show you how committed and powerful the leadership is to have overseen this disaster and continue to stick with it in the face of common sense and business realities. It’s not too late to delay the Daytona and launch the Six Pack as listed above, including that base RWD and save the day, even if it humiliates these genius pencil pushes.
Or, as some have contended, it’s a conspiracy to destroy Dodge. At that they could not have done a better job.
Great article, you basically summed it up for us all. Looks like a “ Hit Job” to me.

If think the coupe will be very low volume, it's too big to compete with the new Mustang. First launch should be a four door with inline sixes and RWD. They need to redesign the Hemi with a alum block and fix the camshaft and lifters and hemi tick problems. They should also build a shorter wheelbase model to compete head on to the Mustang as the new Challenger with convertible model also.

The cheap out for Dodge was melding most panels for four and two door Chargers. Your right on with a shortened platform and new Challenger styling utilizing the Charger mechanics to energize the brand. This would be a very easy effort and styling with Challenger cues in coupe and convertible offerings would be a welcomed move by Dodge fans. This would save Dodge and must happen. Too obvious for discussion.
As to the Charger Coupe it must have an R/T version, but the hidden beauty of the design lies in the hatchback giving SUV ergonomics in a muscle car disguised fastback. I’m considering that route to replace my Jeep. Anyone else thinking along these lines?

They could have done like they did with the Ram and have the old gen run for a year or two longer while the new one was getting ready. With the former body, they could have just offered the GT & the R/T for the last model year with the R/T receiving the Scat Pack Bee-liever package with the 6.4L heads cam, a cold air intake, and a full SRT exhaust like Mopar performance parts used to order and had the 450hp 5.7L Hemi as truly a last call Daytona 340. Offer it with a full dynamics package suspension, Brembos, a 1320 torque converter, 3:09 rear, a Hellcat level interior with R/T embroidered seats, carbon and suede pkg and things like that. The GT could have been pretty similar except it would have had the V6 8-speed but they could have put the Mopar cold air intake on it and a few other things. That would have been on the one side of things while the Six Pack Roll out was happening along with a very low-run off EVs.

They didn’t, did they ? Just plain and simple it’s all a hit job on Dodge. Everyone knows the Daytona will fail miserably and once what little shine there is from the few myopic takers when launched, that shine will be off this pumpkin in short order. These Charger Daytonas will sit and rot and anyone left looking for the Six Pack will be too embarrassed to be seen in any kind of ha ha Charger. This will be a laughing stock event of all laughing stock events for Dodge. We all can float should of, could of statements, this “they didn’t stew” is cooked and it’s going to taste like crap.

i think the car itself electric or ice just doesn't turn me on, looks passive, whimpy and BLAND..
Exactly as you said: passive, whimpy and BLAND
To me, the design smacks of being AI-generated and unretouched by humans from the iconic '68 to '70. The only positive of the new design is it looks great as a 2 or 4 door, but the sail panel/C pillar should be longer on the 2 door.
And then there's the fact of no manual transmission option for the ICE...
