Stellantis Halts Jefferson North Production Amid Inventory Concerns

Production Paused To Manage Vehicle Inventory...

Stellantis has halted production at its Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) in Detroit for the full week of September 30th. This plant, a key part of the Detroit Assembly Complex, manufactures the Jeep® Grand Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, and Dodge Durango. The decision comes as Stellantis grapples with an oversupply of vehicles at dealership lots, prompting the automaker to take drastic steps to manage the surplus.

He is a tip. Cut prices a few thousand per vehicle to move them out. Let’s be honest, with the storm that just ravaged the south, they are going to need to replace a lot of vehicles. The poor folks are going to need transportation. Getting a new/replacement vehicle will be faster than rebuilding. They will need to replace what they had to commute to and from work since most maybe living a bit from where they lived. This is an opportunity for Stellantis to look good in bad times.

Saw all this coming 2 years ago. Getting rid of Tavares is the first step. Focusing on quality is the second. Proper funding for programs with the properly trained people is the last. However...Tavares has done so much damage, not sure this corpse can be revived. I hope so.

Stellantis’ Toledo Assembly Complex, home to both the North and South plants, has been experiencing extended shutdowns that are now entering their third week. Initially expected to last just one week, these closures have caused concern among workers and the community, particularly as they continue without a clear end date.

Just watched a video of doom and gloom on Stellantis. Jeep must cancel production of the ill conceived Wagoneer S and Recon immediately as a cost cutting necessity. As all electrics, both are doomed at launch day one. Dodge must also cancel the Charger Daytona nightmare and get the gas powered Six Packs to market as soon as possible to try and save that insane product decision. The mass market warned them, but they knew better... NOT !

Good time to stop as likely anything coming from East coast ports will be stalled anyway.

I seen a few Wagoneer S testers out running today. Nothing canceled, still working out electrical issues.

The decision to pause operations comes as the automaker deals with an oversupply of vehicles at dealership lots, leading to a need for drastic measures to manage the excess inventory.

I was being facetious a bit, know this ill determined venture is too far to cancel, but delay might be called for in these circumstances. Same for the Daytona, which is a terrific effort by Dodge, but will not attract many buyers. Too late to delay, but rush those Six Packs to market ASAP. Were those Wagoneer S testers on the road or on the side of the road ? Facetious again, or maybe not.

It was well timed as All OEMs are about to have a extended Pause

Massive missteps resulting in large dealer inventory, which is killing dealers with floor plan payments ? Perhaps we are in spite of all the fake economic news looks like we are in for a real recession ? GM reports nice but small sales increases, so is this a Stellantis issue alone ? Anyone here remember the 1979 -1981 debacle ? The problem today is there will not be a Chairman like Lido to right the ship ! Hang on and buckle up.

If the docks don't remain open the entire supply chain will collapse and we will have Covid like inventory adjustment.

Rise in inflation coupled with the increase in pricing will definitely make a lot of families rethink their purchases.

Stellantis Announces Temporary Production Halt at Detroit Assembly Complex

No Production Scheduled from October 28 to November 1, 2024...

Stellantis has announced that there will be no scheduled production at the Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson (DACJ) from October 28 to November 1, 2024. This news comes on the heels of recent layoffs in September, where several hundred workers were let go by October 1, marking a significant shift in the plant’s operations amid ongoing challenges for the automaker.

All the double speak Stellantis provides.

The reality is, they have WAYYY too much inventory on their lots and they need to thin that out.
They have too much inventory because their stuff is way overpriced and there are no good financing options.
