The owners of Gold Coast Alfa Romeo and Gold Coast Maserati in Great Neck, New York, have recently initiated legal action against Stellantis and Maserati North America. The lawsuit, lodged on July 23 in Nassau County Supreme Court, alleges that the automakers have obstructed the sale of the dealerships for “illegitimate, pretextual reasons,” including potential retaliation linked to a prior legal dispute.

For those not familiar with Long Island, Great Neck is part of Long Island’s fabled “ Gold Coast” and this is one of three Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari dealerships in the area, recognized as one of the wealthiest areas in America. It is also home to a very large and successful Italian-American population, so the three brands and the customer base seems perfectly matched. To note these three brands are very popular on Long Island, not BMW or Mercedes numbers, but representative and popular enough in those circles.
Gold Coast located in my neighborhood here is a Maserati-Alfa Romeo dealership that has expanded its original dealership and opened a nearby large service center on Northern Boulevard in Nassau County. On the surface it looks to be doing quite well and selling lots of cars.
Given the right locations and a heck of a lot more marketing, in similar areas, Maserati and Alfa Romeo has proven clearly by its Long Island success model, it can thrive in North America.
