If it’s 500hp out of Hurricane 3.0l and 4Xe, this means it’s based on the 420hp SO version and that’s 80hp increase but with instant off the line torque.
The same with the HO version would be around 620-630hp.
It’s like beating a dead horse.
A factory HEMI in the new Charger is not going to happen unless Stellantis finds away to offset the mpg and emissions.
But, you can always swap a HEMI.
They won’t show all the offerings now. Maybe as we get closer to the production date, more information will be released.
Or, they will offer limited models in the first year, and then offer more models.
Well, GEN-3 HEMI is actually a Semi-HEMI.
So if they can make the Hurricane’s head dome-shaped instead of being pent-shaped, then they can revive the Aussies’ HEMI.
Also, HEMI is a crossover valves and air flow design.
Please explain how a dual valve per cylinder is more efficient than 4-valves??
So you want to replace a 5.7HEMI with 375-395hp with a hypothetical and less powerful engine??
I think people are confusing durability with reliability.

Dodge never became lighter with any new production model.
The new Charger is larger in every dimension than the old Charger and Challenger.
Even if lighter body material were utilized, and as you said, the safety and luxury equipment will offset and add weight.
The vibration and sound of the V8 will sure be missed.
I’m sure someone will line up the HO SixPack against a Scat Pack or even a HEMI, which will be interesting, considering the extra weight the new Charger carries.
It would be Challenger if it was continuation of the Challenger’s design or was inspired by the Barracuda.
The design chosen fir the Coupe fits to be called Charger for 2 things:
1- Save on production and certification cost by reducing the number of SKUs and design.

I would not be surprised if the SixPack SO sedan is the agencies choice, and I wouldn’t be surprised if an entry level Pentastar was offered in a model year or two.
