I agree. The Ford Maverick works because it actually somewhat resembles a pickup. It's not hideous. The pictures I've seen of the Rampage are hideous. A U.S. Rampage would need a major sheetmetal workover.
Easy call for them to make, seeing as how they weren’t selling any of those cars anyhow. I still have not seen a single one on public roads here in Kentucky. Not one.
Why FWD? Unless you just enjoy owning a vehicle that's hard to work on, expensive to work on, has weird driving dynamics, and won't last as long.
Do a RWD car for $29,995 base price, $34,995 nicely equipped, that's nimble and efficient and fun to drive. THAT would sell like hotcakes.
Please explain to me why the V8 engine still outsells every other option in GM trucks? They've got a little 4-banger turbo. Heck they've got a 6 cylinder diesel that is by far the most fuel efficient engine in the lineup. Why doesn't it outsell the V8s? It's cheaper, more fuel efficient...
Dodge Charger went from 40k units annually to under 2k units as soon as they went EV. EV is the issue.
Even GM, which you noted has the largest portfolio of EVs, is still only seeing less than 15% of their sales from EVs.
Capacity isn't the problem. Three or four years ago CDJR was at the...
G A S P . . . . you mean taking away the powertrains people love and replacing them with "vastly superior" tiny displacement turbo engines caused sales to collapse?? Say it ain't so!
You're making the same mistake so many other people are making. You're regurgitating the "Hurricane is superior!" myth based solely upon ONE metric: horsepower on paper.
Here's the reality: the Hurricane engine, like most engines from Europe, has been littered with problems. And, since it's...
Yep, 18-20 MPG in every vehicle I've ever had a 3.6L P-star in (Challenger, Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee) and no direct injection which is so helpful. My last one (2020 Grand Cherokee) had 202,000 on the odometer when I traded it in back in January. No repairs except a water pump. Much...
I mean, I think they have to. This truck will have to tow a minimum of 7,500 lbs. with SAE J2807 certification to compete. 8,000 lbs. would actually be a smart target considering that the main competitors are at 7,700. And you are not doing that with a tiny little 2.0L engine, turbos or not...
I look at those Ram numbers and it doesn't look positive. Yet, the article spun them in a very positive light. HD is down bigtime over a year ago and YTD. Ram 1500 had only marginal increases and that's likely due to the $15 to 20K discounts dealers are doing to TRY and clear some Hurricane...
I agree with some others who have posted. The timeline on this is WAYYYYY too far out. 2028 is another 2.5 model years away now. By then the competitors will have advanced even farther.
As far as the news of this being body-on-frame, at least they are making the correct call there. They...
People like to talk trash about "TK's Garage" on YouTube, but the guy has been spot-on with information he's been leaking for the last 9 months. The guy seems like a punk, but his track record with information has been stellar. And this weekend he said in a video that "SRT vehicles will be V8...
For the ones saying the V8 doesn't make sense (and you know who you are), Ram got 10,000 orders for the 5.7L truck in 24 hours. BOOM.
To quote a famous rap star: "If it makes dollars, it makes sense."
Lately I've been thinking about picking up a used 2022 or 2023 Wagoneer. Then I started reading through the Wagoneer forum and my jaw dropped. Holy cow, what a train wreck. The list of problems owners are seeing with those things would take a ream of paper to write down. I guess I'll pass.
I'll believe that when I see it. Again, there is a lot of complexity to hybrid powertrains, and a lot of issues to be dealt with to acquire all the materials needed to fully convert "the entire fleet".
And yes... ONLY 5 MPG. To put that into perspective, at 1,500 miles per month and...
Except... a midsize 1/2 ton truck and a fullsize 1/2 ton truck have very similar power output these days, very similar towing capacity, and identical payload capacity. So if the specs are all the same in terms of performance and capability, why not go fullsize to have the interior leg room...
