Again, that's a report about the ICE 500. If, as rumored, the new 500e offers four doors, a roomier (slightly wider) interior, upgradeable battery and significantly longer EV range than the outgoing model, then it's competitive in the US EV market - pricing will be high ($27,000-ish MRSP) but...
The best, by a clear margin of the 2020 Superbowl adverts. Bill Murray is brilliant as ever. (Co-incidentally, I'd only watched "Lost in Translation" for the first time last week, and it's a fantastic performance.. don't know why I missed it before, especially as I also have stayed at that...
This is thanks to a US regulation. Whereas the UNECE standards used in the rest of the world insist on a minimum level of luminous flux emitted by the lamp, the FMVSS regulations used in USA specify a minimum size of illuminated area instead. You can't mount brakelights on a hatch under either...
Garmin doesn't make its own maps. It gets the data from HERE n.v., a Netherlands-based geographical information provider. HERE started out, a long time ago, as Navteq, but was bought by Nokia, and then later sold to a consortium formed by BMW Audi and Mercedes-Benz.
TomTom's maps come from its...
Something like this... this display shows three "cards" open: "Driver Assistance", "Climate" and "Performance Pages". The user can choose what is shown on each, or change the sizes (one huge, one big/one small, three small)
@pumadog - yes, it seems so. Until now, there has been no evidence that an electric convertible version was being developed in parallel with the hard-top. The availability of an electric 500C is a cause for great celebration in our household, but it could be 2021 by the time we take delivery...
Picture 12 in that sequence shows that there is a "C" variant too (note the oval window opening, and the hinge-line for the rear hatch below it:
And I thought this was funny:
... that's the transmission selector from the company's largest vehicle (it's from a RAM pickup) in a mule for their...
If there's uncertainty at Geneva, I think it'll be about the pricing and available battery size(s) of this 500e. FIAT can quite easily give a press briefing, show the production car and let people sit in it without revealing the exact specifications of the whole model-range, but it would be...
Small-Wide gives shorter overhangs at front, but that means no V6 option (a transverse V6 engine needs a lot of space ahead of the front axle). Could this be the debut for the GME-based Inline-6 that's been rumoured for so long?
Agree that the Jeep brand is restricted by needing to have short...
Brexit has sealed the fate of Opel's UK sites. A car at Astra's price point can't afford to have any uncertainty in its supply chain - now that the combined group has spare capacity in Italy too, there's no reason to risk starting a project in the UK.
@Bili - there was a pretty clear promise made at 3'23" here:
My feeling is that they'll announce the car (with sample models on the stand) at Geneva, and then do an on-sale launch on July 4. As validation production has started in Turin, the design is now final.
Lots of intriguing things there.. Rear suspension especially. Hard to see the instrument binnacle on these interior pics... Previous mules used the cluster from a Renegade, which led to a few sites getting ahead of themselves with "predictions" about the new cabin.
I hope they preserve the...
Am I right in thinking that this 12 Volt BSG system is cheaper than a turbocharger?
It looks like a good system, though. 3.6 kW is a big enough electric motor to be useful - it'll get the car started and give the road wheels a full turn, and should be able to fill in an extra 10-20...
I can imagine a facelift of 500 coming in Summer to align with whatever new interior and exterior styling changes are made on the 500e, but there's no reason to change powertrains again at that point.
CO2 emissions are 88 g/km combined for the 500 1.0 mild hybrid in Pop trim, compared to 116...
The color restriction does seem strange, all right. Bolder, "signature" colors would do a lot for Alfa's on-street recognition in the US. People mightn't recognise a Stelvio straight away in traffic, but they'd spot that metallic ochre color. Ironically, this is a strategy that has worked...
More evidence, if any were needed, that this was originally an Alfa Romeo project... Twin-spark engines have over a century of history in Alfa Romeo competition and road cars.
Is this an FCA image? Odd to see Kia and Audi together in any kind of a presentation.
That Audi Q2 is pretty close to Giulietta in size: 4cm shorter wheelbase, just 6mm narrower track, and 4cm higher roofline.
I'd like to see Giulietta IV too, but I'm not so sure about a sedan (I expect...
Interesting idea. I've always thought a small SUV would be so close to Giulietta in size that it wouldn't matter. Giulietta itself was significantly taller than 147.
(What's the top-left vehicle?.. I don't recognise it)
Level 2 autonomy is probably not the limit of this system. Unlike the USA, autonomous vehicles are regulated in Europe, as in every other country that has adopted the UNECE vehicle standards, so what you'll see here is what is permitted on the public roadway. Some of the manoeuvers that Tesla...
