This wasn't the kind of crisis that Sergio had in mind when he made Zero Net Debt the group's main target, but FCA is definitely in a better place to weather this crisis today because of that foresight.
Jeep's image is improving in Germany - the Germans are quite favorable towards the idea of American cars, but just didn't like the reality, and in fairness you can't blame them for that: the pre-FCA Jeeps were not reliable, and anything that needed a replacement part meant a three month wait...
The screen shows where the batteries are.
There's also no transmission tunnel at front- two of the Milan custom-cars are fitted with carpet mats that run the full width of the cabin in front of the passenger seats.
The Mini e has better acceleration to 100, but the same 150km/h top speed, but yes, nothing like as good a range.
I think 42kW might be the highest-range configuration; I would expect to see a 25-30kW model too, offering around 200 km, as the entry into the range.
Many thanks. Those pictures answer nearly all of my questions about the design :)
It's interesting that we haven't seen any pictures of the hard-top version yet. I wonder if FIAT is going to launch with the (more expensive) C model, then bring in the hard-top later, or maybe there's another...
The rear wing adds downforce, but also drag, so it will make the car slower on a straight-line acceleration test - downforce is only of benefit when cornering at speed. So, why would Dodge fit something that makes their special-edition car perform worse on a quarter-mile sprint, the one...
I think it looks worse because of the number-plate also showing "500". Cover that with your finger, and it looks better. I'd still have preferred the FIAT badge, but the new FIAT logo doesn't really work the way the old red badge did.
Interesting... they've kept it mostly the same, and the interior looks very good (or as good as can be seen from pictures this small). 00The only thing I'm not keen on is the "500" front branding - it's a thing I don't like in any car (Land Rover does it on all of its models, and it looks a bit...
There's quite a bit of anger about how the show organisers handled this: they are keeping the exhibitor fees, and now don't have to pay anyone to staff the show - manufacturers, meanwhile are left with displays they can't use (there won't be a later re-run), and extra transportation costs to...
The "Seat" buttons are for the ventilation: upper, middle and foot-well. (I thought the same as you at first)
The gear lever is unlikely to be same as Giulia, as that's a ZF part, but the Alfa automatics used a different gearknob with metal inlays (... and is "Knueppel" a euphemism for...
The different surrounds make the two parts look different, and the Alfa part may also be finished differently (matt rather than gloss, but it's hard to tell from such a low-res image).
This kind of re-use is much less obvious than the way the Giulietta's very distinctive AC controls kept...
As far as I can see, The CAD model shows exactly the same cabin as shown in the "clinic" photos.
Looking at those pictures again, I see that the touchscreen and the row of AC switches in that clinic car are the same parts that will be used in 500e.
@pumadog - my own belief is still largely with what François says in that interview: 500e will replace 500 over the next 24 months. I was just surprised that so many outlets are saying that there's now going to be an ICE sibling - maybe they simply doubt that FIAT has the ability to build a...
@pumadog That was my own belief too, but then there's persistent rumours of a new, ICE, 500 too. What François has said publicly still allows for the current model to be phased out in 12-18 months, to be replaced by a mild-hybrid ICE model on the new, bigger platform.
That's interesting... a...
Not my favourite way of integrating a screen, but at least it's nicely finished, and the shape does fit the general design of the cabin (that we've seen so far). What I'm really interested in is the rest of the dashboard: the little bits we've seen so far show a very high standard of materials...
So, back in December, I said this:
When I wrote that, I was joking, but the Internet can always find a better fool... today I found this story, from around the time those pictures leaked:
-- Source: 2021 Fiat 500e Electric Car Spied With "4WD High" Button, Rotary Gear Selector
I'd put that down to declining demand in Western Europe for the body type, and a need for Tipo's (not Egea's) successor to be an EV. Tipo will probably continue into 2025, but whatever follows it will need to work up to 2030-2035.
Interesting. No suggestion of consolidating on the PSA van. (A...
There was talk of PSA selling Faurecia as part of the merger with FCA- could Exor buy that share, and eventually merge it back in to the whole company? I know that's basically Exor giving money to PSA, but Faurecia is a pretty big player in the automotive business in its own right, and the...
