Of course small batteries and lower weight would be better for most drives in every day life. But when you only have one car, you obviously want the option to drive long distances as well.
For me it's totally bland and faceless. Nothing left of Smart properties under the new Chinese leadership. Sad sellout by Mercedes. Now they are without own small/city cars again. Very bad interior ergonomics with buttons only on the steering wheel. Hard plastic all over.

Ok, it seems I understood something different than you under "LED face". Full LED lights usually demand (at least allow) a different headlight design than Xenon lights. Another question is if the Stelvio and Giulia's lights have to look exactly the same. We haven't seen the Giulia yet.
Either go EV only or leave Europe in a couple of years. And America a little later. There's no choice. Let's see how hydrogen solutions and solid state batteries develop.
Ok, this is not badge engineering. It's a nose and booty job. Tonale won't cannibalise Hornet, but Hornet will cannibalise Tonale if you get 90% the same product at 100x more dealers.
If the two cars were designed the PSA way, they would have their own bodies and totally different interiors...
The Hornet seems to be a lazy Tonale rebadge. Like the EV day shape indicated. Different bumpers, lights and hood, but same body. Not good for Alfa in the US. :confused: Spyshot from Pomigliano:
