It's funny to think that Carlos Tavares changed Tonale engineering or structural elements 13 months before Job 1. Never ever. If somebody downgraded the Tonale, it was Manley & Kuniskis/Bigland.
Tavares & Imparato might have stopped engine and equipment options, but not core vehicle parts with...
A PHEV gets you 7,500 tax credit in the US? Wow!
Why should they sell the Hornet in Europe? There's not even a Dodge dealer network. They'd rather discount the Tonale or rebadge as a Fiat.
I'm pretty sure Acapulco Gold is the same as Alfa's Ocra GT that's available for Giulia and Stelvio. So I think that should pop up for the Tonale too, maybe with the PHEV launch.
1.2 problems? I only remember the problems of the first 1.6 generation.
The 3 Tychy BEV are on eCMP Gen 2: 3 power steps instead of 136 PS and more range. Also the existing PSA BEV will get more range for 2023.
Don't know if Avenger is a good name for Europe. The car looks attractive though. Is there a source for the GSE 1.0 engine info? Nothing about that in the EU press release. Some rumours say 1.2 PSA engine.
As I read it, "Wagoneer S" is just a code name. So it should get a unique model name when on the market. With Wagoneer as the general sub-brand. Otherwise it's a wild naming scheme:
Wagoneer = F-segment SUV
Wagoneer L = F-segment SUV, long version
Grand Wagoneer = same F segment SUV with more...
I don't like the body style. Looks old fashioned (not in good retro style) 90s/00s to my eyes. Too much metal around the overlapping "waves". But then my eyes are European and it doesn't say anything about the success in America. :D
But there isn't an existing C-segment customer base for Alfa in the US yet. Alfa needs to convince people with some USPs. Pretty hard if you have a twin product from a brand with 100x more dealers and prominence.
Yes, this will sell well in America. As long as customers don't care that the sharp Dodge front doesn't match the curvy Alfa body. But how is the Tonale supposed to survive in the US?
At least they didn't rebadge a Dodge as an Alfa. 😅 They were not afraid to use dozens of Alfa styling elements...
Well, at least some minor interior changes from the Tonale. I guess the Acapulco Gold is Alfa's Ocra GT? Hopefully coming soon for the Alfa.
I think this Dodge version is a fine vehicle. As long as the customers don't have a problem with the unmistakable Alfa design (apart from the front)...
The current Mini (F56) doesn't use the PSA engine anymore. New BMW engine since 2014. So either the cars in your rental fleet are pretty old or you're writing about a different engine.
The 1.6 engine for the US will be for HEV and will start production in 2025. So I'm not sure if we should...
The current (or in this case better the upcoming 2025) version? How much is it still the engine from 2006?
The wiki article isn't very clear. Prince engine - Wikipedia
Keep in mind that this FCA B-SUV project was started before the merger. And that it's designed around CMP 2nd generation – unlike any current PSA vehicle. We'll see how much the Jeep, Fiat and Alfa versions differ. I guess much like Renegade/500X.
