Range Extended EVs are series hybrids. Series hybrid is better because Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep would control their own destiny and would build their own engines (to power the battery) and motors (which they've already designed for the crappy pure EVs, but at least they can be repurposed) ...

Pentastar can easily fit in the engine compartment (in the Ram 1500 / Wagoneer) and is battle tested. Too much stress, long term, for a four cylinder.
