They did say last week that Pacifica was getting another refresh for the 2026 MY - https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a63360969/chrysler-ceo-refreshed-pacifica-new-crossover-coming-2026/
So does that mean STLA large spans both D and E segments?
My understanding is that Recon, Charger/Challenger, and the upcoming Cherokee are all based on variants of STLA Large.
STLA Large is ICE and EV, for now. Upcoming Cherokee (KM) will be FWD STLA Large with an MHEV, from what other...
Rationalize all you want - bumbling GM, in spite of Mary Barra, and their V8s are at the top of the heap.
Turns out consumers that agree with me and like + are willing to pay for V8s, make the world go round in automotive and are the consumers / products responsible for minting all the profits.
"Trucks and Corvettes, maybe a Caddy model still exists"
Those vehicles make General Motors $10-12 Billion profit a year, minus what they lose on EVs. The rest of what you cited is a break even or small profit. They specifically said they are increasing production of HD Trucks and V-Series...
Long term, yes Chrysler should be BEV only. Short term, this is about keep the ship afloat / not losing money / not building more money losing EVs than they have to.
Shift the EV timeline back by ten years - mid way through the 2030s. Everybody has a free pass the next four years - no fleet...
If Ralph in May 2023 was saying the original Airflow hatch version was cancelled and they wanted to go with traditional SUV styling/height (E segment size, maybe slightly larger than Grand Cherokee?), that means the ICE version, if its still coming, wouldn't arrive until late calendar 2026 as a...
Good, put the money into STLA Large getting a series hybrid (range extended EV with gas tank, like the Ramcharger) powertrain so it can go into the -
2028 Grand Cherokee Five Passenger / Seven Passenger
Next Generation Durango
MCA Charger / Challenger in 2029
Next Generation Wrangler (which...
Ford is a cultural thing, and the F150 is much better, quality wise, than a Ram 1500. It's a high quality pickup, with attractive introductory trim prices vs the competition.
From 2016-2019, Ram took huge marketshare / sales from the Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra. GM has taken nearly all of...
Jeep/Dodge/Ram going their own way with V6/V8 Powertrain was the entire reason for the sales boom from 2013-2019. You can still do V6/V8 Powertrain, on higher trims, with electric assist.
WL74/75 are hardly ever cross shopped with the X5. You sell the aspiration (V6/V8 on the Overland+ trim)...
You mention the 1.6L and 2.0, which are fine for Europe, but a total non-starter for the US strategy they have pursued for the last five years - high priced, high margins Jeeps. You cannot sell vehicles for $50K+ with anything less than a V6, in WK2 volumes - 250K units/year.
Sure, you can...
None of which, to my knowledge, have the powertrain that would entice existing Jeep, Ram, or Dodge owners. Their strategy is -
"we're abandoning high-displacement engines because we didn't think Trump would win, and our pricing for the 2025+ MY for an Inline 6 is $15K+ more than what you paid...
So I dug into this a bit more - unfortunately, STLA is a in a difficult position with ZF MHEV / PHEV for Jeep/Ram. ZF 8HP80 + PHEV on the 2025 BMW X5 gets 52 miles on EV only mode. But...
The problem is production + licensing for 4th Gen...I don't think ZF is letting anyone build the MHEV or...
Saw it coming from a mile way, tried to warn people - no one listened. It's either electrically assisted V8s/I6s or series hybrids for every Jeep and Ram, or this company is DOA. No existing Jeep / Ram buyers care for the existing product portfolio, except for weirdos who seem to think this...
Slice and dice it however you want - this thing is DOA. Have you been reading the comments on the Ramcharger? People are interested in series hybrids. EVs are palatable to the hemi crowd, provided the flexibility of having a generator + gas tank comes along for the ride.
EVs will always be compared to other EVs via tech specs. It is an immutable part of a vehicle being an EV. It's like comparing a eukaryotic cell (V8) vs a prokaryotic cell (EV). Or an Apple Watch based on TSCM's N3E process node vs a Rolex.
If you are going to build an EV, you have to compete...
