Ram officially pulled the wraps off its all-new 2027 Dakota Warlock this past weekend during the 132nd Argentine Polo Open in Palermo, Argentina. The debut marked the midsize truck’s first public showing, where it stood proudly among the Ram 1500, 2500, and Rampage — alongside displays from other Stellantis brands like Jeep®, FIAT, and Peugeot. But it was clear the spotlight belonged to Ram, as the brand showcased its complete South American lineup for the very first time.

Ram Finally Gives Argentina The Midsize Pickup It Deserves

Ram Argentina has officially re-entered the midsize pickup truck segment with the introduction of the 2027 Ram Dakota — and this time, it’s local. Built at the Stellantis Truck Hub in Córdoba, the Dakota isn’t just a name revival. It’s a strategic move to fill the gap between the successful compact Rampage and the brand’s beloved Ram 1500. The idea is simple: give buyers a real truck that’s capable, durable, and spacious, without the size penalty of a full-size rig.

I await a similar announcement from Ram on the US Dakota soon. Or maybe not.
If they get it right, it’s worth the wait. Happy for Argentina.

I still think THAT truck would not do well in the U.S. It is way too similar to the Ford Ranger and to some extent the Chevy Colorado. There is absolutely nothing there that distinguishes this truck from the rest of the pack. Why should a buyer pick this up instead of a proven Ford Ranger? First and second gen Dakota had size and features that no other company did. That was its calling card. When Dakota hits the U.S. it needs to stand out somehow. Maybe do a 6' bed with the crew cab. Maybe do a larger engine with class leading torque. Maybe go for a 8k lb. towing limit to have best in class towing. Something, anything to distance this truck from a crowded segment of contenders.

If THIS truck in the articles was on sale here today, I admit I would not buy it.

I'm glad we're supposed to be getting a midsize ram truck sometime in the near future, but can I be greedy for a moment and say that I want a modern Jeep J10 Honcho to go up against the GMC Canyon? Something retro with more of the "electric razor" grille instead of the 7-slot grille? Something with the mail slot opening at the front of the hood? something squared off and cool? Something with Laredo and golden eagle packages? Something with molded fender flares, a simple interior dash layout, a Hurricane-4 Hybrid power train and just simple goodness? While we're at it can we upgrade the Grand Cherokee to something that is more of a modern SJ? Something with two doors but roomy like what was done with the Charger. Can we get some of that kind of stuff please? Thanks in advance
