FIRST DRIVE: 2026 Dodge Charger SIXPACK Scat Pack Two-Door

A Turbocharged Comeback On One Of America's Wildest Roads

The turbocharged era is officially back, and Dodge is finally embracing it with all the confidence of a brand that once dominated boosted performance in America. People often forget that Dodge wasn’t always about big, naturally aspirated HEMI® V8s. There was a time when Dodge owned the turbo game — Omni GLHS, Shelby Charger, Daytona IROC R/T, Spirit R/T, Stealth R/T Twin Turbo, Neon SRT-4, and Caliber SRT-4. The list is long, and the legacy is real.

I fully agree this door handle release system is a deal breaker for me, it’s absolutely unnecessary especially with all the other electrical quirks these cars are having.

This is a OK Boomer thing.... This is what will be in the future. Look across all OEMs .... Maybe stays for Trucks or Off Road thing. But even if there is a Handle it just a fancy mechanical version of a switch made to make people think it is a physical handle, like the joysticks people insist them must have for the transmission. There will be a manual release hidden for emergencies.

Momentum in that market isn't going to accommodate those aging out of the Market.

Emergency releases, especially something like this should not be hidden. With the plain handle and no electronics involved, no hidden release is needed. When seconds count these push button door releases are totally unsafe in many ways.
It is not an age related thing. Not everything has to be electronic.
I liked the knob shifter in my '16 Ram from day 1 and wish our Durango had it instead of the shifter. The knob makes more sense than push buttons. GM is putting the shifter back on the steering column. Yes these things are electronic but they work.
A toggle switch for volume is cumbersome on a vehicle, yet works fine on a remote control. That is why volume knobs are coming back.
My Ram and Durango have knobs for fan speed. You don't have to take your eyes off the road to adjust the fan. I'm looking to order a new Ram the end of Dec, the fan control are haptic toggle up and down, not something you can adjust without looking at it.
Making things power dependent like a door handle is just plain stupid as Tesla is finding out. There are a lot of clueless people who would have no idea what to look for if the door release button wouldn't work.
