FIRST DRIVE: 2026 Ram 1500 With The 5.7-Liter HEMI® V8

FIRST DRIVE: 2026 Ram 1500 With The 5.7-Liter HEMI® V8

How Ram Brought Back The V8 Without Compromise

The HEMI® name has always carried a certain attitude, and for 2026 Ram has doubled down by bringing back one of its most beloved powerplants: the 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 with eTorque. Discontinued after 2024, the HEMI returns as an option across multiple Ram 1500 trims, including the value-packed Warlock, where it slots in above the Pentastar V6 and the HURRICANE I6.

The Li'l Red Express in the photo is a "79 model....A "78 Li'l Red has round headlamps and square marker lamps immediately inboard of the headlamps.....Collectors seek out the more rare "78 model over the more common "79 model and will pay a premium for those examples as the "78 version has lots of differences that the "79 doesn't have...But Dodge did build a few 1979 Li'l Red Trucks with the 1979 style round headlight grille....Very rare and in my opinion they look much better than the square stacked headlight grille.

I remember the Rebel being available on the Quad-Cab. I don't need a Crew Cab.
I don't need any 4 door sedan style truck....When a true 2 door version is offered(which will probably never happen)I will be a customer.....Until then Ram can sell these 4 door trucks to soccer dads.

bahahahaha it is really funny if all the people who claim they would buy a 2 door, actually bought 2-doors there would be 2-doors. The reality is the Take rate is as close to Zero as statically possible across all OEMs. And every Product manager that approves it get absolutely slaughtered in a career ending sort of way.

Yes they are in business to sell Trucks... If it too a soccer dad, that is still a sale.

I am sure you are complete sincere and would purchase a 2 door, but market of statistically zero doesn't pay the light bill.

True. You could sell a bag of ice to an Eskimo easier than you could sell a 2 door truck in this country. There's a reason 2 doors and manual transmissions all went away: nobody was buying them. I'm surprised Ram still offers the Quad Cab actually, because I see one of those on public roads about once per month.
