Since the departure of former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, the Stellantis organization has undergone rapid changes. Pricing strategies are being reevaluated, electrification plans are being reconsidered, and in a surprising twist the 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 has been granted an extended lease on life in the Dodge Durango, according to our sources.

I'm gonna go ahead and be the pessimist here. As 7 year owner of a 5.7 hemi and current owner of a powerwagon, the mds needs to be deleted. The headers/manifold need to be totally redone. I love the hemis, but their are improvements that are desperately needed.
Impossible, it that most flawless powerplant ever produced .... :D :D :D

MDS does increase gas mileage to help with fleet averages in very negative regulatory in enviroment.

Compared to ANY of the European engines they are using right now, I'd say yes the Hemi family is flawless.

But I'll agree, right now would be a perfect time to address the handful of issues. Go to stainless exhaust manifolds like the 6.4 SRT engines used. Ditch the MDS totally. And for the love of God, PLEASE go back to the 5W30 engine oil spec so these things don't tick like a typewriter.

Think the Hemi should be in trucks and SUVs and a next generation Challenger using the STLA Large platform should get a V-8 option.

The 392 Apache exhaust manifold is straight bolt on, and can be easily done.
I agree on the MDS, especially the current design.
The 5.7 engine didn’t change much. So moving from 0w20 back to 5w30 should not affect anything including the MDS components.

Would be great news. Now, get me a 2-door option to replace my 810hp Mustang.

As a hardcore Mopar guy, so glad to hear this news about the Hemi’s return. Although I am looking forward to the new Hurricane engine, I really like the Pentastar 3.6 six cylinder. I have had it in my last 2 vehicles and found it has preformed well,
it’s great on gas and have extremely low maintenance. I did like my 3.5 in my 2010 Charger, but the 3.6 in my ‘13 Charger and ‘21 Durango blow the 3.5 away. The Pentastar 3.6 is a great engine. Sad to see it go.
Hello : The Pentastar Engine is Not Going Anywhere for a Number of Years. Trenton Engine South is Making about 1000 a Day as We Speak. And They are Still Making Them in Mexico.
Current Plans Call for them to Continue Making Them Thru 2028.
The Plans to go 100% EV Remind Me of the Saying " Other than That Mrs. Lincoln How Was the Rest of the Play."

The Tooling was Paid Off Long Ago.
Yes It Was . Resetting Up Single Spindle CNC Machines For Machining Heads & Blocks Would No be that Difficult.
The CNC Tooling and Programs that Run the Machines is Proven and be Usable.
My Question is if the Overhead Gantry Type Robots can Handle the Weight of the Block.
My Guess is the Pistons, Con Rods, Intake Manifolds, Oil Pan , Oil Pan, & Chain Case Cover/Water Pump are Purchased From
Vendors. That Production Sources should Still Avaiable.
The Assembly Line is of a Modular Design and Would be the Easiest Part of the Production Puzzle to Get Up and Running. The Real Questions are at What Volume is the Place Being Set Up For ?

That’s great news! I hope it happens. Things really do seem to be changing quickly for the company. Now if they can only provide an affordable smaller car other than that excuse/POS hornets nest from Italy.
