The first-generation Volt from 2011 to 2015 was a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) just like the Ramcharger, the second-generation offered a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option.

That is correct, the Volt had a very similar setup and was never considered as a hybrid. It was an EV.
