What Is Going On With Dodge’s Next-Gen Muscle Cars?

Turbocharged Inline-Sixes, HEMI V8s, Battery-Electrics...

Over the past couple of weeks, there has been a lot of talk surrounding the next generation of Dodge muscle cars on the interwebs. Some have talked about the upcoming turbocharged inline-six-cylinder powertrain, some have talked about all-electric variants, and some have had comments about the vehicle’s styling direction.

In this post, we figured we would go over what we know, things confirmed by our sources, as well as a few other rumors about the next-generation Dodge Challenger and Charger models.

This thread will be fun to follow as the speculation on Dodge will be rampant. Here goes my take.
Dodge is being oh so smart, playing the current C+C twins out for as long as possible. Developing a RANGE of new muscle cars to appeal to the widest range of customers for a good part of a decade until the answer on full electrification is answered and Dodge fans are weaned off the Hemi is genius. A new corporate based platform will underpin everything. Every model will offer RWD and AWD. Base model a non turbo inline six. R/T model a turbo six. The Scat Pack a 392 Hemi with Etorque and the new transmission for other forms of electrical assist. The Hellcat gets a full blown twin turbo six, electrical assist, AWD only and bolstered by NHRA factory stock racing and the top model (new name perhaps) Demon gets all electric AWD and a big dose of NASCAR exposure. Something for everyone.
Styling for both will be very evolved with hints of classic cues but the new era is time for big styling changes. Radical is probable not evolutionary. There will be a convertible and a Viper based off the Maserati MC20 and built in Italy.
Let’s see how I do. Let the fans chime in, because, this will be fun.

That would literally be something other than a Hellcat by definition, as the Hellcat is named after the 6.2 L Hellcat engine.

There will be a package similar to the Demon. It will be named Phil.

HELLCAT name will die with the engine. If you listen to what I said in the past the current car and the new car will run together for a period of time. Dodge will send the HELLCAT off with a great farewell when it goes... especially in Challenger form.
