sedans still do good volume, but the capacity exceeds the demand.

People do seem to project there own personal desire to the grander market.
They do. The issue is not the volume but the profitability. To move sedans most manufacturers need to put incentives and this decreases profitability, while SUVs command a price premium thus, even with incentives they get more profit per unit.

Yes, because there is a over capacity, As the Capacity shifts to CUVs you will see some profitability return. But it may take time as the market seems to have normalized around low margins. It may actually have to be undersupplied for a time to correct.

I suspect that Fiat are working on a Panda 4x4 replacement and that is a runaway success in Europe, so whatever replaces that will likely underpin the new sub Renegade Jeep. If that's the case I may potentially be able to afford a replacement for my ageing 3.7KJ.
