Designed bolt by bolt to significantly outperform every other truck, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has been tested to handle the most punishing conditions with extreme durability. Using the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® V8 engine, the Ram 1500 TRX has become the quickest, fastest, and most powerful mass-produced half-ton pickup truck in the world is rated at 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, delivering new levels of performance with a 0 to 60 mph of 4.5 seconds, a quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds @ 108 mph, and a top speed of 118 mph.

I wish they would build a performance truck like how they built the original Road Runner.
It was equipped with just the things to make it light and fast. Should have several options that are now standard features. It should have a locking rear diff with ratios like 3.55, 4.10, 4.56, 4.88. It should obviously be two wheel drive. Have very large brakes. And some very nice colors. Fat tires also. I think air should be an option. Very nice looking wheels. Maybe two or three options in the wheels. Not everyone likes black rims. I prefer bright and shiny ones. Be able to order it just the way you want it. None of the bs like, oh in order to get that, you must order this other option. Forget that.

That's what I would like to see too. Like a modern-day Rumble Bee...

Being as they only build crew cab or quad cabs, it's a good bet they would offer it in those two body styles. All I need is a 2 door. I only have my wife and I to cart around. And I think the 2 door would be lighter, making it quicker.

Nobody buys 2-doors outside of Chevy.

How about an all-electric sport truck as proof of concept now that Ford has used the Lightning name on a decidedly non-sporty vehicle.

Take rate on 2 doors is so low you'll never get the basic model to justify the development. Maybe when the classic is put to rest, a contractor version will be developed because outside of fleets people just don't pull the trigger.

Ram continues to build (when they have all the parts available) and catalog the short bed, regular cab 1500 Classic. A 2wd Hemi powered model can be had at a reasonable price according to the build and price at the website. Time is running out for such a truck.

Isn't the Jeep Grand Wagoneer going to have a long wheelbase model in the future? The Chevy Suburban rides on a wheelbase over 130" long, if Jeep goes head to head with that then there will be a frame available with four wheel independent suspension and a long enough wheelbase to build a sport truck from

I would put a Ram Quad Cab and the 5' 7" bed from the crew cab on a frame with IRS. The 392 would be an option.

Is that a Jeep

This seemed to be a logical place for my comment.
First the article says that performance trucks were popular in the mid 2000's

First things first. Yes the big three made some sport trucks in the mid 2000's, but do you forget the first sport truck. Personally, I liked the 1989 Dodge Dakota Shelby. Of course that's also where I think this new Street Truck should come from. There have been rumors, or just wispers in the wind, that a Dakota is in the works. If this is true a smaller lighter truck would be quicker than a big heavy one. If it must have 4 doors, fine, but let's consider what a small truck is. Try a mid 80's Toyota size, add 2 half doors and shorten the bed. Maybe widen the track just a little and drop a 300+HP engine set up in it. Maybe throw a mild hybrid electric motor for an additional 100 ponies. With the smaller size 0-60 in less than 5 seconds should be easy. Also the size would allow for some significantly improved handling package. As for options and packages Red, Orange, Blue, and maybe a trailer tow package, and choice of shiny, grey or black wheels. It's a performance truck and should come 1 way. Remove all unnecessary nannies and let drivers drive.
