All Nissans have collision avoidance and they are not reliable. Chrysler's setup isn't far behind.

I can see it now, a battery electric from the people who gave us Lean Burn and Ultradrive. Chevrolet has given us the equivalent of an electric Vega. I'm fearful of what Chrysler with their history of half baked innovations will do with such a vehicle as the Airflow.
Agreed lets just shut Chrysler down, don't develop anything in the class that 3/4 world and several large population state have mandated. Half bake piece of poo company shouldn't get involve in anything new, should just shut it down. Honestly are you just trying to get a rise?

Look I not a fan of pure Electrics, but your swimming against a rip tide here, They are coming advocating against it is fool hearted. Best one can do is talk with the wallet and buy ICE or PHEV while you still can and hope that these hard mandates are pushed back.

Collision avoidance will eventually also be standard as it is to get the proper safety rating you need it, just hit the button if you want it off.

Marspeed does nice video. Says it will share capacity with Charger and Challenger.

I'm not advocating against pure electric technology. I am advocating for Chrysler to get their house in order. Every generation Chrysler the company has produced a highly desirable vehicle or technology which convinces many to buy a Chrysler product. That product has a flaw which then convinces another generation of buyers not to buy Chrysler products. The 1957 Forward Look cars had horrendous quality issues. The 1970s Aspen/Volare did as well, plus the Lean Burn system wasn't sorted out either before turning it loose on the customers. The K-cars and L-bodies of the 1980s were beset with poor quality management. The 4-speed Ultradrive killed the Chrysler minivan's reputation as did the later 9-speed in our time. Yes those transmissions have been sorted out, but the buyers have now moved on.

Collision avoidance will eventually also be standard as it is to get the proper safety rating you need it, just hit the button if you want it off.
The operator can't turn it on when it's cold outside. I spent a good part of Sunday night trying to get the warning lights and messages to go out on an AWD Pacifica with no success. Our customers want AWD vehicles when the snow is falling and that is when the Pacifica's is least reliable.

The biggest problem with battery electric vehicles is somewhat removed from Stellantis control. That, of course, is the charging infrastructure. Stellantis is offering level 2 charging stations for home installation. There is no problem with that. High speed chargers have been plagued with problems. There have been some incidents that MSM have chosen to be silent on. This isn't all high speed charging, these incidents happened with the 800V high end cars.

I don't bring this up to trash EVs, I think many voices are way over promising on the technology.

I would hate for the worst case scenario for the Airflow is to be that it is insanely popular, just like the 1957 Plymouths were.

They are not going for popular again, they are going for profitable. Easy to go back and point at every failure... now do the same for success. No one who was involved in any of those failure is still working in the industry and the 9spd is a ZF unit and most of the complaints around it would be considered trivial 20 years ago and are basically around programming.

The truth is most of the EV are not really the car companies it the tech company they are LG, Sony, Samsung..... and Chrysler is just the coach builder and integrator.

And no Collusion avoidance is not going to work with crap over the sensor.... it would be like you driving without windshield wipers... The default is to go back and drive like you did when that tech didn't exist slowly and carefully in the bad weather. I trying to get your comment straight you want a collusion avoidance system that works with snow cover sensor or flying objects going past it? Am I getting this straight? Cuz if so WOW?


Honestly it comes off like Bill..... Gee some good news finally for Chrysler now let me tell you why it stink, why Chrysler stinks, how the whole world stinks..... every one is just a bunch of Pollyanna's for being interested.

To reiterate - chrysler has announced BEV only by 2028. Currently the pacifica is the only minivan in the companies lineup.

I didn't know if any of the presentations covered where they plan to still offer the ICE and PHEV versions of minivans after 2028. Lots of time till then for things to change obviously, but the pacifica is the chrysler brand's current top seller, and there currently is 0 BEV minivan market share.

Fully Electric doesn't BEV exclusive. That is what I read into it.

Ah OK. That is quite a different understanding of how I read "chrysler brand to go all BEV"....I was thinking thats BEVs only - no ICE engine of any kind or plug-in hybrids.

But you of all people on this forum have made the case in the past that it is hard to justify the expenditures on the Chrysler brand. Bill is just saying it’s not his cup of tea. I tend to agree. Chrysler is long since dead. Yes kill it. Spend the money to hopefully for goodness sake keep Dodge viable. In a world of limited resources , hard to see the justification here in my opinion . The ones who rallied for Chrysler are the old farts like me. And we don’t count anymore. Not being favoritism, that’s just a fact. 30 and down don’t even know what a freaking Chrysler is. Don’t believe me, go ask one.

Personally i think its fine if they what chrysler to be an all EV brand. They needed a headline/brand indicating in north america that stallantis is "with the times" and this gives them that.

I'm guessing the airflow will be 90% like the dodge hornet, and a new chrysler EV sedan (300) will be 90% of the dodge charger EV with the fratzog logo much like the 300 and charger are today. Or I could be way off. Chrysler then to get a 3row verstion of an EV Jeep grand cherokee which i'm sure will be here in a few years after the 4xe version.

That would give chrysler a fuller portfolio that many have complained about not existing today as opposed to letting it completely die. Just no ICE versions of vehicles which is somewhat of a different concern.

If what Marspeed is correct the Airflow is the the Dodge Charger and Challenger so it is 300 capacity replacement.

My guess is Passport might be a 3 row in Windsor, the Voyager/Caravan/Pacifica with be Electrified which it already well on the way.

What they showed was definitely not Hornet sized which is SUSWE or what ever they call it now.

Sedan isn't going to happen and I doubt they sacrifice a single Jeep to make a Chyrsler.

The Chrysler CEO also stated BEV only.
Chrysler brand is basically “guinea pig” in North America.

The collision avoidance on other brands simply say system not available due to sensor obstruction or a warning of a similar nature. Chrysler's warning could use a lot less theatrics. The reason I brought up collision avoidance is Stellantis states this about the Airflow concept...

"The Chrysler Airflow includes STLA AutoDrive to deliver Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities, which will also be upgradable via OTA updates"​

Going back to my original post in this thread, I don't want questionable technology in my automobile. This doesn't mean the Chrysler brand should be in the bargain basement selling econoboxes. Other manufactures (including Tesla) offer single motor and smaller battery options. I get that the Stellantis way is to introduce the highest trim first and then roll out the lower trims later. The concept probably represents the highest trim level. It is not wrong to hope for a simpler more practical trim level. The Airflow's nearest competitor is the Ford Mock E. The styling of the Airflow is beautiful, while the Ford product tends towards the other end of the spectrum. Is it too much to desire a similar option mix to the Ford product?

This is part of FCA/BMW/Intel Joint venture:FCA Joins BMW, Intel Partnership To Develop Autonomous Platform
Mostly developed under Manley time as CEO and will be in the next generation 7-Series.

I wonder what platform a future Chrysler minivan would use. The reincarnated Fiat Scudo van offers a battery electric option, so the groundwork has already been laid out.

Obviously STLA Medium or Large. Which is good for BEV and HEV.

well I think it depends on its CUSW or CUSW+ which I understood was also very close STLA Large to begin with.
