I wonder if that six speed automatic in combination with the IC engine is from Aisin, since their transmissions show up in the front drive Compass and some of the other Fiat models sold here. The specs for the gas motor sounds like the one we see imported here already into the USA for the Renegade and Fiat 500X.

The article states the IC motor has 177hp and the rear mounted electric motor has 134hp. That adds up to 311hp in my head, but Autocar states "In all-wheel drive mode, there’s a total of 237bhp shared between all four wheels," a little farther down. The author also makes it seem like the Compass will vacate Toluca after production is established in Italy. I thought the Compass would continue on at Toluca for the North American market.

I'm hoping something like the PHEV Renegade will make its way here to the United States, but I'm not optimistic. Other manufacturers continue to sell compliance cars for California (and the other states adopting California rules) while marketing their volume production plugins elsewhere around the globe. Will FCA step out of that pattern?

One last note, GKN announced an affordable electrical propulsion strategy in a news release on December 11.

Could this be related to the Renegade and Compass PHEV drivetrain?

I would not take AutoJag article as source for information.

As we know from Jeep Renegade. ICE is rated at 130 or 180 metric HP while electric motor is always at 60 metric HP. As we know electric motor type is P4. In that case all of its power is added to ICE. So we are talking a about 190 to 240 HP depending on a ICE power level. It's 130+60 or 180+60.

With more powerful electric motor it would be more.

Transmission should be Aisin 6 speed. Bad and ancient choice if you ask me.

@Bili
l agree with you, my friend, when it comes to "protecting" Jag and Land Rover from the competition :rolleyes:
However, apart from that l find them quite well informed.
