I talked to two of my friends that just bought a new f-250 and the other a f-350 and they both used to be ram owners and when I asked why the one with the f-250 said that the new gas and 10 speed is what made him switch along with the fact
Ram is still using the old 2009 chassis and the back seats still are a split design. The one that got the f-350 went with the diesel because again the Rams are 2009 chassis with a split seat and the new 6.7HO powerstroke puts out 500hp and 1200 ft-lb
of torque with a ten speed while Ram is way back at 400hp, 1025ft-lb with a 6 speed and he said it looks like no updates soon (i.e in a year) and there was nothing I could say.

My question is other than the rumor that Ram and Cummins are working on a Hydrogen engine but that's not until 2027 from what I heard so is Ram going to sit on there butts with the HD trucks while the competition runs circles around them?
I am a Ram fan myself but even I have to admit that right now Ford is on top of the truck game (I have said it before it doesn't help Ram with the 2500 and 3500 having a 370hp 850ft-lb with a bad shifting in house 6 speed, talk about WAY behind the times).

Wow, still no comments here (that's concerning even to me). I see Chevy and GMC have already updated the twins so where in the world is Ram as all they did was new mirrors and digital clusoter? When do we finally get a new chassis, better transmission, and a FULL bench seat in the back with a much flatter floor?

A bad shifting in house transmission? Well, one will assume you’re referring to the 68RFE which is FAR from a bad shifting trans. One could argue the much heavier duty Aisin shifts not so great but it’s the workhorse.

Second, I’m not sure they are working together on hydrogen. Cummins certainly is. I’d be game but the issue is, the Cummins 6.7 H is low on power. Sure, it’s got north of 800lb-ft but only has 300 some odd hp. That’s not enough.

Third, yeah it appears Ram isn’t doing much. Sad to say. They refuse to go to the bigger cab debuted in ‘19, and I haven’t heard any rumblings lately about the possible Allison trans. They could EASILY end the HD truck discussion by getting that Allison 9 speed and going to the new cab, with a pickup version of the 4500. Game over, overnight every other truck on the market becomes obsolete and irrelevant. Cummins, 9 speed Allison, 4500 tow beast. Yes please.

I will remind everyone, the 10 speed “Allison” in the GM trucks is not an Allison, it’s an Allison-branded, GM-built, co-designed with Ford, transmission. Allison just gets paid to have their name plastered on badging and sales lit. The 9 speed Allison I refer to is 100% designed and built by Allison.

Nope GM has secured an exclusive deal on Consumer Trucks. So No it cannot be offered. I few years back FCA was deep in negotiations with Allison ..... natural Hoosier pair Cummin and Allison but GM recognizing it as one of the Market advantages secure the OEM exclusive deal.

Yes I was talking about the 68RFE as it is the reason the cummins is detuned in the 2500 and 3500. the only way to get the HO is with the Aisin and yes it also has some funny shifts in it but that transmission seem to be able to take it as I have yet to see a truck for sale with a bad Aisin in it not so with the 68RFE lot's of bad ones.

Actually cummins already partners with Eaton/fuller on transmissions as the x15 and x12 have it integrated providing more power and better Mileage. Now that to me would be a home run leave the others in the dirt combo a 6.7 cummins with a 9 or 11 speed Eaton with a 5th gen body and frame it would be game over for the others!
