Perhaps FCA thought they would make more on the Daytonas. Why the heck did this thing get a wing and the 500 special addition daytona anniversary cars did not??
Jeep's image is improving in Germany - the Germans are quite favorable towards the idea of American cars, but just didn't like the reality, and in fairness you can't blame them for that: the pre-FCA Jeeps were not reliable, and anything that needed a replacement part meant a three month wait. And as far as they are paired with Fiat or even with Jeep at some markets they will not be considered as a premium brand.
Fiat is not a premium brand although some 500 family products are more upscale. Jeep is considered as junk in Germany and UK. Of course in Italy or even France people have different opinion about Jeep. FCA has problems to breakthrough in Germany in UK.
Of course for US FCA needs bigger models than Giulia and Stelvio.
With Opel and PSA, I see Jeep improving in standing with both Germany & France.Well, I remember seeing an Autogefuhl review of the Renegade in which he started the review by dissing its interior (Thomas is extremely nitpicky about interiors) but by the end of the review he was grinning like a maniac because he had so much fun with it.
So yeah, I think germans are receptive to Jeep. And they like Alfa.
I enjoy his Compass review for the scenery alone. Folks would be surprised at how many Alfa Romeo dealerships there are in Germany. Giuliettas are fairly common. Granted they stick out in a sea of Germanic sheet metal. I've been passed by a Giulia QV on A93 as I was heading back to Grafenwoehr from a Sunday in Regensburg. The first Giulia I laid eyes on was an American-owned one on base down at Hohenfels (BY) in 2017. Now, yes, the older classic ones were touchy. I asked an Italian Lt Col in the Bersaglieri Reg't, who was big on motorbikes, if he's ever owned an Alfa. He admitted that yes, he had, and he was always working on it, so it departed. I also passed a classic AR owned by a German officer driving out the main gate of Grafenwoehr in 2018. He's stopped on the road, I guess to remove a cover. I stopped to ask if all was okay. It was. Sweet car. My memory is a bit cloudy, but it looked like a Tipo 33 Stradale, so I suspect it was some sort of kit car. That or it was just a spider with the headlight covers.Well, I remember seeing an Autogefuhl review of the Renegade in which he started the review by dissing its interior (Thomas is extremely nitpicky about interiors) but by the end of the review he was grinning like a maniac because he had so much fun with it.

Homoganization ....... is that a word.... The wings isn't for looks. Why the heck did this thing get a wing and the 500 special addition daytona anniversary cars did not??
