Where did it lose 80hp from other applications?

My guess, ratings are on regular 87 or calibrated for improved efficiency instead of peak.

I'd rather loose the 80 hp and gain real world economy. Plus peak torque is there at like 1750 or something. Its not underpowered.

there are some loses associated to piping it when the engine sits the wrong direction.

I want to take one of these for a drive at some point. It's too thirsty to replace the Prius still, but maybe a hybrid version will fix that?
