They say that the only engine choice will be a 2.0 diesel with 203 HP. It's only 4x4 which is related to Brazilian regulations which AFAIK mandates 4x4 on diesels.

In Europe, the Rogue (Qashqai in this side of the pond) had a 7-seat version. Not sure about this one because I never cared much about Nissans.

LA is rural. I mean... Population density is similar to some rural areas. I'll never understand such cities.

Cities like NY, parts of NJ, Bay Area. They look more like cities. Cities like they are all over the world.

I know, I lived there for 8 months. Although I lived in San Francisco and I visited the LA, Vegas, San Diego, Washington, Boston and NY. I didn't get to know cities from the fly-over states, Texas or Florida. The US is a continental country. It's unfair to assume that all americans are the same. Although the cultural differences are obviously not as big as between european countries, they are enormous between people from different states, or even in the same state. There's a big difference between people from the Bay Area and LA. There's an even bigger difference between people from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Although I must say, in my experience most americans are more talkative to strangers than europeans.

No one should be afraid of it. KL just isn't a good fir for Europe.

It has nothing to do with KL's quality for US market. This is different speech and is focused on the European market.

I will never understand why the KL doesn't do better over here. I love mine and I had a lot of german cars over the years but I would get a KL again in a heartbeat. Most germans prefer the compass. But it has something to do with the pricing. The compass is reasonably priced here, the Cherokee isn't (over 60.000$)

I don’t think it’s a good fit anywhere, tbh. I think it’s a good car let down by generic styling inside and out, poor space efficiency, and lack of premium presence for the high price of upper trim levels.

Car & Driver summed it up pretty well:

You can adorn a bland crossover with all the off-road goodies you want, but capability isn't the same as character.

The new version can’t come soon enough.

IMO the Cherokee makes little sense in its current form. Why does Jeep need three mid-size SUVs?
The Cherokee is the less distinctive one, and the Compass, even more so with the last interior update, is a better vehicle. The only thing the Cherokee has over it is that it can house a V6 engine.

Interesting. I had two Renegades before and a Compass for 3 months before I got the KL. Driving the KL is a completely different world. It's much more powerful, quieter and capable. The compass feels like 2 classes beneath.

Quality is good IMO. Value for money is excellent. Availability of options is pretty good despite the lack of availibity of heated rear seats on the TH Elite for some asinine reason.

But it does need to get rid of that stupid sloped rear design to help with cargo space.

As with any vehicle, it will need to be maintained, otherwise we end up with dead product like the RT vans and 300. The interior should have received a better refresh in 2019 IMO, but I still like it.

I drove a new Compass shortly after it was released, and although I was impressed with it, especially compared to my 2007 Caliber that I had at the time, it still felt like a cheap compact crossover. I'm interested to see how the refresh changed things.

I'm not going to pretend that the KL is a luxury vehicle, but it's definitely nice enough for me, and I consistantly get compliments on it from friends when they get into it. And that V6 tho.

There is a world of difference between the V6 higher end trims and the base trimmed four cylinders. For 2021, a buyer has to go much higher into the Cherokee's price range to get either the V6 or GME turbo four. The Chevy Blazer is trying to be crossover version of the Camaro and pulls that task off fairly well. The Cherokee should concentrate on being a rugged all-weather. all-terrain sports utility vehicle with much more emphasis on the sport.
