Can someone please offer a removable 3rd row bench seat that mounts in the bed (or maybe separate seats mounted to the bed side rails that flip up to the side), a removable bed mounted roll cage to protect them, and possibly a removable topper as well? Cool, thanks.

So here is the low down on the rest of the plant switcharoo... ok, production was suppose to start in the 2020 model year for WS (Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer) at Warren. But FCA has decided to keep the cash cow Ram 1500 Classic (DS) into production for the full-year. According to my sources, the Ram 1500 Classic might get a limited run during the early 2020 model year as well before ending production completely.

After DS is completed, Warren Truck (which is the most out of date and oldest plant that FCA US runs) will get a much needed update. This should take 6 to 8 months to complete. The $1.1 billion update will make the plant as modern as the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) that builds the Ram 1500 (DT) and I will put some video below so you can see how DT is built compared to Warren Truck now.

The first vehicle at Warren Truck will be the WS, it will be joined shortly after by the all-new 2021 Dodge Durango (SD). Yes, a body on frame Ram-based Durango! They will start production probably around January or Feburary 2021. A few months later or possibly might be held out to the fall, the completely-new 5th Generation Ram Heavy Duty will join WS and SD at Warren Truck. They should be badged as 2022 and we receive many of the updates that the 2022 Ram 1500 refresh will get at that time.

FCA has reverse engineered the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty to allow it to continued to be manufactured in Saltillo for the time being. This truck allows production of Ram 1500 Classic and then the plant remodel to happen, while keeping the Ram Truck movement forward. I will say after chasing these trucks daily, I am a huge fan of the 4.5 generation Ram Heavy Duty pickups. They are sharp.

We should see the all-new Grand Cherokee (WL) later this next year. Maybe at LA Auto Show next year. Prototypes of the all-new WL should be testing late next spring. A third-row Grand Cherokee-based vehicle will fill in at the Durango's open spot at Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP). Durango being truck based will continue to be three-rows and will offer police departments more of a Tahoe based vehicle, which they have been asking for.

Remember, the updated SHAP plant can build up to 750,000 Ram 1500 (DT) models if needed. FCA had the Warren Truck plant maxed out with Ram 1500 Quad Cab and Crew Cab models with just over 500,000 units. The Ram Heavy Duty, is only a fraction of Ram Truck sales despite the variants. For example, Tahoe sold 98,000 units last year while Expedition sold 51,800. So Warren Truck will have plenty of capacity for all WS, SD and HD trucks.

Oh contractors bust their butt... SHAP was completely converted from a uni-body plant to a body-on-frame plant...

On July 26, 2016, FCA US announced that it would invest $1.48 billion to retool SHAP to build the 2019 Ram 1500 and support the future growth of the Ram brand. Two months later, the Company confirmed that it would create 700 new jobs to support production of the new truck, which officially launched in March 2018. Mind you they were building early-line prototypes in November 2017 for corporate. Vehicles like this one I shot on the road in December 2017, about a month before the debut of the DT at NAIAS.

SHAP isn't the only plant that went under the knife in months... Belvidere Assembly Plant did as well when Cherokee (KL) was moved there when Dart, Compass and Patriot were discontinued there.

Warren Stamping produces stampings and assemblies including hoods, roofs, liftgates, side apertures, fenders and floor pans. Stampings/assemblies provided for the Dodge Grand Caravan, Dodge Durango, Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep® Grand Cherokee, Jeep Cherokee and Ram Trucks (Light Duty and Heavy Duty).

Sterling Stamping produces stampings and assemblies including hoods, roofs, liftgates, side apertures, fenders and floor pans.

If you’ve purchased a pickup of just about any type you have at least a two position tailgate. Usually you flip the cables up and loop them over the lock post on the bed. YouTube it.
