I've been trying to buy a Pacifica since the 2017 hit the streets, but have been unable to get the model, equipment or color I wanted. Finally they announced the combination I want...a Limited in the new Fathom Blue. MY wife has been wanting to buy a new 300 since 2018 and has been similarly frustrated, but since I was going to order my van, she decided to order her car. So, I visited my local dealer with checkbook in hand to order a Pacifica for me and a loaded 300 Touring L in Frostbite for my wife. Due to our age, they would more than likely be our last new cars. The salesman took all my information and I went home to wait for them to call me with the order information. Imagine my surprise when a few hours later they call to tell me they cannot submit special orders, and probably won't be able until the '22 models are available.

Never had such a hard time spending 80k in my life!!! Wife said she's going to order a LIncoln sedan, but it appears that a new Chrysler is not in my future.

I find the dealer experience is less than value add. I really thing the automotive sales experience in the US is very much lacking the rest of the retail industry, even if you factor in large ticket or durable items (if you think of vehicles as durable). Especially in states that force sales via dealers.

In my experience, sales associates at dealers have :
* known less than me about the vehicle in almost every aspect
* struggled to order the proper package to get the features i want
* spending more time on upselling warranty, protection, etc than on getting the order correct
* struggle to match what I wanted (based on web order) in order system
* order the wrong parts from MOPAR to make things work (phone cables, hitch add-ons, mats, etc)
* provide false information (order status, order delivery date, etc -- yes I have proof as there are options to track your car via VIN )

It is sad, because this is not new. I feel for the associates who are likely stuck in the old-system and just trying to make a living.

To your inability to order your vehicle, I wonder how much of that is due to some of the labor and supply shortages.

The fleet I work for is having an extremely difficult time getting new vehicles. There is a global pandemic going on, along with material and parts shortages. Vehicles which were due last September came in at March. These were seasonal purchases for winter.

I was planing on a new vehicle purchase this year and I now am having second thoughts.

Does Lincoln still make sedans?

I'd be interested to see if you are able to order a new Lincoln right now too

Notice there haven't been any talk from Wrangler and Gladiator production getting impacted.
RAM DT, Grand Cherokee launch, Gladiator and Wrangler have priority for chips & production.
