Jeep® Launches All-New Grand Commander

A heavy-hitter for the mid-size SUV market in China
The all-new Jeep® Grand Commander, a new entry in the Chinese mid-size SUV market, recently made its debut at Auto China 2018. Designed to meet the evolving mobility needs of the country’s growing urban middle-class, the Jeep Grand Commander is a premium seven-seater SUV and will be produced at the GAC-FCA plant in Changsha.

The interior of the vehicle was inspired by business-class cabins, maximizing use of space to provide comfort for up to seven occupants while offering precise execution and a high-tech experience.

Key features include a three-zone independent A/C, standard for all models in the series. The Uconnect system, available in two large touch-screen options (8.4- and 7-inch), offers a seamless connection for almost all mobile devices via both Apple Car-Play and Baidu Car-Life. The Grand Commander also offers heated and cooled front seats that feature 12-way electronic adjustment and second row-heated seats. A concert hall-quality Harman Kardon® sound system with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) completes the audio package.

Urban-Inspired Design
The all-new Jeep Grand Commander was a joint project featuring the Jeep design studios in Auburn Hills (US) and Shanghai (China). The design team took inspiration from architecture in central business districts around the world, to produce an exterior design that projects a “high-tech” image with dynamic presence, catching the eye and ensuring occupants arrive in style.

The model features the Jeep brand’s signature seven-slot grille. An elegant multilayered grille ring assembly leverages platinum chrome and silver metallic finish to contrast with the piano black grille shield. Standard for all models in the series are all-LED reflector headlights, delivering premium lighting, as well as LED taillights surrounded with platinum chrome decorative trim.

Large side windows and a dual pane sunroof allow plenty of natural light inside the vehicle to further enhance the spacious feel.
The raked front windshield reinforces the model’s urban look while improving aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. The strong rear stance provides a comfortable interior space for third-row passengers, and ensures adequate luggage capacity. The third row offers class-leading visibility and comfort, thanks to a large side-glass opening, flat floor, 37-degree adjustable seatback recline and the best ingress/egress capability of its class.

The interior of the Grand Commander reflects true Jeep DNA combined with carefully crafted design elements to meet the style demands of the Chinese market. The upper and lower instrument panel are divided by a mid-section offering real wood and metal appliques, which are laid on top of the soft premium wrapping, completed with accent stitching. The combination creates a refined overall interior for both driver and passenger.

Efficiency and Functionality
The Jeep Grand Commander offers a powerful and efficient powertrain with a 2.0-liter turbo engine featuring a 9-speed automatic transmission. The reliable and energy-efficient 4WD system boasts the Jeep brand’s signature Selec-Terrain system, giving consumers peace of mind in all driving conditions while operating under intelligent fuel-saving technology that can deliver the fuel performance of a 2WD system for city driving.
The Jeep Grand Commander will arrive at Chinese dealers in mid-2018.
