Historical good news....FCA's UAW employement to surpass GM's UAW

In fall 2017 GM had 49,500 UAW workers, since then GM has slash at least 3,000 since,and more importantly FCA which in fall 2017 had 41,000 has since add Sterling Heights onboard.
Together with the actions by Mary, GM's UAW blue collar work force will fall below 42,000 in the second half 2019, while FCA's UAW workforce will grow to at least mid 40,000's (Gladiator coming on line, too).

On the "other" Mopar website this was bad news to some:(, or couldn't understand the difference between White Collar and UAW which IS CRAZY.


As a Ford-leaning Poster stated:

I know GM had some overcapacity, but that did not stop them for deciding to produce the Blazer in Mexico.


I really sad thing is that GM was once the biggest company in the world and employed the most Americans outside the Federal Government. After all is said and done, GM will likely be third in auto employment behind Ford (already is) and FCA.

And to just think,there where people questioning "Mopar" staying in business was the right thing to do a decade ago.

Does the UAW cover workers in Mexico and Canada?? Or are these just USA numbers??

UAW is only U.S. (Pretty clearly not Mexico),the Canadian wing broke off during the 80's (now "Unifor").
But keep in mind at one point GM's UAW workforce was the largest private workforce in the United States (U.S. Government workforce larger and is a "Public" workforce), it now becoming the smallest of the traditional "Legacy" American Automakers.
