People ask me about the Bronco....Typical Ford rollout...I guess the Mopar haters on the other site will be quiet..

I spent some time behind a Bronco Sport last night. It was much nicer than what I expected. The trim I briefly drove is called Big Bend. I love the heritage texture and color of the upholstery, also the cargo area being covered in the faux tread plate covering. Speaking of cargo holds, the Bronco Sport does a much better job than the SUSW Jeeps.
I only drove it in the "Bat Tunnel" running under the parking garages, but the the mighty 3 cylinder EB motor was noticeably smoother than the tiny three cylinder in the EcoSport. Ford literature says there is an eight speed automatic in the Sport. I don't know if it's Ford built or not.
The Jeep models with only front wheel drive are popular in Europe and various amusement park parking lots here in the USA, but the Bronco Sport can only be had with AWD. (Ford brags "4X4 standard all models.") Jeep does not have AWD only in its North American front drive based model lineup, but Fiat and Subaru do.
I never liked that FCA stretched the Renegade and Compass with entry level model trims with only front drive. FCA has had a lot of time to straighten out the 2.4 Tigershark 9-speed combo, but it is still middling in its performance. The Bronco Sport is cute, roomy for its size, and is now available.
I'm hoping that hey are also working on a North American solution for a new 1.5 turbo from FCA.I have seen quite a few on roads here in Detroit. But no thank you for the 3-cylinder. Compass will be better this next year to take it on, hopefully with the 1.3-liter turbo 4-cyl.
I would never drive a 3-cylinder. A turbo 4-cylinder is the smallest engine I'd get - anything with fewer cylinders would have to be fully electric to get my purchase. That said, the new Trailblazer with the 3-cylinder was actually kind of impressively quick. I mean, obviously not fast, but it was quick for a 3-cylinder.I have seen quite a few on roads here in Detroit. But no thank you for the 3-cylinder. Compass will be better this next year to take it on, hopefully with the 1.3-liter turbo 4-cyl.
