I'm expecting wheelbase in between Compass and Toro.

If it's a Low D segment as in the plan than it's an easy guess. We can debate about exact dimensions but I think it will be more than 2.7 meters and less than 2.8 meters. Of-course I could be wrong but if it's a Low D segment than it needs to be relatively compact on the outside.

As I probably already said it. I'm not a fan. But this particular concept has a nice sideline.

PHEV for this platform is almost ready. So...

The only question is can they and will they out 2.0 turbo inside of it. It does not have much sense for Mercosur or even for EU. Diesel is still the king for this size of a vehicle.

If this SUV will only exist in LATAM like the Toro then I don't believe they'll make it much different from the current Toro and/or Compass. Nor will they spend any money in developing a PHEV version of it.
If they release it in Europe then they will do a PHEV version. But I am not optimistic considering the recent statements about Fiat in Europe.

My PHEV comment was related to possibility of US and EU sales.

I thought that plans were clear. Low D segment. Whatever that means.
Low D segment is mentioned with 2 different cars built at at least 2 different regions. Brazil and India.
Jeep in India and Fiat and Jeep in Brazil.

The FIAT brand comes into the 2018 São Paulo International Motor Show in São Paulo, Brazil with a completely renewed portfolio. The FIAT brand is trying to recapture the market and showing off their latest concept vehicle, helps the brand show the public where they see the design of the FIAT brand is going in the near future.

Meet the Fiat Fastback Concept. Designed by Fiat Design’s Latin America design office, it translates the four new design principles that the design team is looking to inspire its future vehicles. Those principals are human, bold, contemporary and flexible (contextual) and able to generate experiences without interruptions seamlessly.

@Deckard Cain

You are a native speaker so you will understand this:

But basically this is what they said:
  • wheelbase 2695 mm
  • length 4600 mm
  • width 2045 mm
  • height 1610 mm

Width is most likely with mirrors.

In comparison with Compass it has around 180 mm more in length, 60 mm more in wheelbase, and 40 mm less in height.
I took a Compass for comparison because they are sharing Small Wide platform.

So basically it can stay as it is for a future product.

Uh. Just 6 more cm in wheelbase than the Compass?

I guess it'll be a 5-seat SUV then. I would say that the dimensions of a concept car don't say much more than the segment the production vehicle will be in.
If they're releasing a 7-seat version it needs to have a lot more wheelbase though.

Yes, it's on the low end of what I expected. Actually I was hoping for 2.75 meters wheelbase length. I think it's ideal.

For a 5 seater on a Small Wide it will be more than a fine.

But for a 7 seater... Well, I think that I. Comparison to Compass they'll need to make some adjustments, some changes. Replacement of a rear McPherson with something more space efficient. And a relatively long rear overhang. It's doable. And they have bi link suspension on Toro.

Yup, I was hoping for something in that ballpark as well.
Well, if this is just for LATAM, I don't care what is the wheelbase length. I would love to see this in Europe though.

If you have sat at the back of Tipo or Compass you've seen have spacious they are for their size.

Six cm more in length is IMO a lot more. Of course for a 5 seater.

For 7 seater they need to change something and that's not necessarily a even longer wheelbase.

This car is somewhere between C and D segment in size. Maybe more like a D segment for us Europeans. It's even bigger for Brazilians. What's a B segment for us in Europe is called a compact in Brazil. Fiat Argo is one example.

I really like this concept. Might just be the most attractive looking Fiat this side of the 124 Spider. Congrats to the design team on such an exceptional looking concept!
