Stellantis’ DS brand has had an electrification strategy in place since the brand was launched in 2014. With the arrival of its DS 9 in 2020, DS Automobiles’ full-size sedan has been making a name for itself in both the European and Asian marketplaces thanks to a lineup that includes both gasoline and gasoline/plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. Now that 2022 is almost here, DS is ready to welcome another new PHEV setup for the DS 9.

The DS brand could consider, along with other Stellantis brands, exposure of their product line to the North American market. Seductive thought. That consideration and actualization might be best accomplish through clever rebadging of those products. In particular, and of critical value, the DS 9 sedan would match perfectly with Chrysler as a very attractive new vehicle for that brand in its defined and existing market and become, in a single stroke, a conduit for Stellantis to recoup development costs, expand markets and support a corporate brand partnership that is “a natural” arrangement of equals. Since DS will share a common platform, the different execution by DS of that platform arrangement could translate with economic offsetting directly to Chrysler. It could be built right on the Charger/ Challenger assembly line with DS developed components from suspension, technical architectures and basic styling characteristics and design elements. The savings would be significant and frankly, the French influenced engineering outcome could claim for its team a psychological presence on North America though it’s adopted partner. It can even be called the Chrysler DS 9. Works for me.

I'm ok with bringing something new for Chrysler products, but it can't just be a rebadge IMO. Chrysler styling needs to be maintained (whatever that is now)

Oh, yes absolutely I agree. It is amazing what a front clip, tail lights, accessories, fine tuning and messaging can do to created two executions from one source. The basic lines are beautiful and functionally there, but these nuanced creative and clever changes make the differences profound and invisible. Do you like to Chrysler DS9 moniker? Sort of a concession to pride in product to those behind the scenes.i kind of dig it.

I don't think its worth it for a sedan in this market, but a crossover or SUV for sure if it would make sense financially.

I would also think that it needs to be a true "Chrysler" nameplate vs. a letter/number combo
