Just a redesign of the C-pillar to make it more square would've differentiated these two models enough.
The air vents near the pilar are different as well. They could've used the steering wheel of the Compass instead of the Alfa Romeo one as well.
This is just short of being a great rebadge instead of a lazy one.

Ironic that after the failed experiment of the Dart, Manley thought that rebadging Alfas as Dodges is a good idea. But he was even lazier in his approach since the Dart at least was its own model while this...
At least it starts at a great price ($29,995) with the 2.0 Hurricane engine. This has the potential to sell immensely well just based on that starting price. A restyle a couple of years down the line will make this even more interesting.

And ofcourse, the Tonale is simply dead on arrival in the US thanks to this model because they're basically the same. Great job. Just a couple more changes and they wouldn't cannibalize each other. I bet Alfa dealers are fuming at the Hornet being so close to the Tonale.

Yes, this will sell well in America. As long as customers don't care that the sharp Dodge front doesn't match the curvy Alfa body. But how is the Tonale supposed to survive in the US?

At least they didn't rebadge a Dodge as an Alfa. 😅 They were not afraid to use dozens of Alfa styling elements with the rebadge in their mind.

My first view of the Hornet was the light blue media image posted on IG. I was not impressed with it from that view if I'm honest. Having now seen more images of it, I'm starting to like it.

I'm disappointed by the rear pillar and rear door design, and that there isn't rear racetrack tail lights if I'm honest. The interior has had some adjustments, but I don't like the Alfa steering wheel, the volume roller, or the engine start/stop button.

Having said that, I do like the front, although some angles look too "meek" for a Dodge, IMO. I like the hood, and the lighting. I like the changes inside vs. the Alfa interior. Want to see one in person, and drive a GT and R/T to fully see what these are like tho.

It should've gotten a Dodge steering wheel and the rear pillar should've been redesigned. I don't think those two small details would've cost much, but then it wouldn't be so similar to the Tonale and it wouldn't cannibalize its sales in the US as I am sure that was the intent from Manley and Kuniskis.

Is it good for the Segment? Yes

I am not arguing that it isn't. I think it is good for Dodge and I'm thrilled they're getting new product. It just isn't a vehicle for me.

It funny how people expect every vehicle from there favorite brand to somehow cater to them or it falls short. I take one of each? Sort of funny. Compact CUV is a nessary segment for any healthy brand. This has the Chops to wear Dodge. I just wish Pepe hadn't shelved the exotic components from the Tonale to set it apart from the Hornet.

It funny how people expect every vehicle from there favorite brand to somehow cater to them or it falls short. I take one of each? Sort of funny. Compact CUV is a nessary segment for any healthy brand. This has the Chops to wear Dodge. I just wish Pepe hadn't shelved the exotic components from the Tonale to set it apart from the Hornet.

Not needlessly defending anything. I suppose, be disappointed is fine, announcing it to the world????. I been waiting for a Dodge Stelvio for 4 years, but am happy anytime the brand gets something new. I don't feel the need to point out it not for me. I am not in the market for a Small SUV but am happy that those who are now have a option.

I like a mId-Size CUV with 3 row, High Output Tornado with PHEV, that handles like our Stelvio. I guess I will be disappointed for a long time. :D

PM me and I tell you how Tonale ruined a Xmas and caused me unimaginable heartburn and more sleepless nights then I can count.

Alfa is complaining about the Hornet as it is now. Maybe saving the exotic material and component for the Tonale.

Where are the light components? Looks to me like cost cutting means the Tonale got the cheaper and heavier components meant for the Dodge and the Tonale is left with a fairly typical offering instead of something unique in the class. Slower by a second than the Stelvio with essentially the same drivetrain.

Tonale didn't get the love in an amount which was planned under late Sergio.
It would always be Small Wide based product but heavily revised and of course with more powerful ICE engines.
We got sort of a half baked car.

Everyone keeps saying that NA got a Hornet twin. Based on what I knew at the supplier launch, its the other way around Alfa got the Hornet twin. There is a BIG difference.
