The Chrysler brand is under a revitalization period as the industry continues to move forward with its plans for electrification. With only three vehicles (two being minivans) in its current lineup, the iconic American brand is looking to expand its offering over the next half-dozen years into a lineup of class-leading vehicles that embraces the electronic propulsion movement and take on the electrification efforts of brands like Tesla, head-on.

Under the watchful eye of its new CEO, Chris Feuell, Chrysler has plans to build at least four vehicles from the upcoming electrified STLA Large architecture. The first vehicle to make production was shown in concept form at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, back in January.

This article inspired me to think about Chrysler's future some more. Gone are the iconic convertible coupe that was the halo for the brand in the 1990s and 2000s and even before. When you wanted to rent a convertible it was most likely a Chrysler. If your friend said I'm thinking about a convertible, it was often a Chrysler (unless they were rich) But does a convertible match the Chrysler brand direction? Could you see an Airflow styling on a a 508 sized vehicle with 2 doors and a drop top and all electric? Would it be a halo car that would garner the attention of the California image types? Volume would be lower, and the cost to US'ize the 508 would be high, but could even a break even be enough to give Chrysler the new image in people's minds that the Minivans did in the 80s and the cab-forward cars did in the 90s ?
