Jeep Liberty Name To Be Revived For Future SUV

In finding this article and my curiosity of what will replace the KL Cherokee, will Jeep bring back the Liberty nameplate? In my opinion this would cut down on some of the confusion between the two model lines and allow the "compact" model to have its own identity.

I'm hoping with what I've seen them do on the Cherokee and Wagoneer models, that it will trickle down and elevate the Cherokee successor. The Wagoneer S concept is supposedly closely related to whatever comes to replace the model, so I'm excited to see what's in store. I would however like to hear everyone's thoughts, since I don't remember much on the Liberty name. I've known 2 people who own them and from what I know it's a love or hate relationship.

I'd like to know what others think, should Jeep continue with the Cherokee name or revive Liberty as a fresh start for a new model?

Makes no sense to have a Grand Cherokee without a Cherokee. But companies do that crap all the time.
Extra Crunchy, without having a regular crunchy. How can it be 'extra' then?

It's just the trademark filing renewal, nothing to see here IMO

With the KM move to STLA large(mediumish) there would be opportunity to have both on lot through the cross over. Personally I think the Recon concept deserves the Cherokee name more than the KM, This would allow that transition, I am still lobbying for my entry Cascade.

I hope they choose the Cascade name, I like the sound of that.

I already have an appliance that uses Cascade. I don't want a vehicle that reminds me of an appliance.

If there is a 2023 Cherokee, we know where it will NOT be built:

Stellantis to idle Illinois Jeep plant indefinitely in February (Detroit news, today)

We do not, as the STLA Large while close is NOT the CUSW. KM could still end up there.
