Although I was not pleased to see the tried and true Dodge/Ram vans being replaced, at first by the Mercedes Sprinter and then by the Ducato, it has impressed me as to how popular they are, especially with tradesman and small businesses. Of course the bottom line is cash flow for the company and dealers, but I always thought an American design would fit our market best, perhaps I did not anticipate the acceptance of this global van. It remains to be seen, going forward what and how this van will be improved, but the stakes are so high, yet the talent pool so deep now after the merger that I’m betting it will be a much better van. I do hope they replace the current headlights, I see so many running around with blown out headlights, what is that about? My electrician has a Ram van and loves it, so I guess there is a strong audience for this and future Ram vans, but I must interject, I hope our American Ram team has more imput in future development. Heck, it can not hurt.

I purchased a 159" wb High Roof about a year ago and have been working to convert to a small camper / traveler van, and I will have to say that they are great vans. The 3.6 is capable and I can regularly get into the low 20mpg range while taking trips. They are pretty bare bones in terms of cabin area, but its merely a vessel to using the large space inside. The front wheel drive and relatively large ground clearance makes for a decent winter vehicle in 90% of the situations I have encountered. They are IMHO nothing to look at (but what Euro van style really is?), but for functionality and versatility they are just what the market needs.
