Lot of rumor that the Charger and Challenger will move Belvedere. Did he say the NEW cars or along new cars?

“The new platform comes in 2024,” said Tim. “The new car comes in 2024. We didn’t say that the current cars are going to die in 2024. There might be a little overlap, but you’re not going to have years and years and years of the classic and the new one at the same time.”

But at what factory?

He didn't release that. But if Brampton is shut down for retooling there wouldn't be any L-series production. One key note about the announcement was...

"The Brampton Assembly Plant will be retooled and fully modernized, beginning in 2024. When production resumes in 2025, the plant will introduce an all-new, flexible architecture to support the company’s electrification plans."

We know that the new Challenger BEV will be a 2024 model.

"However, there might be a bit of a grace period for those seeking the Dodge Charger and Challenger generation beyond 2024."

I read that like they have been doing lately. New Model run in a newly renewed capacity while maintaining production of the old model. This almost confirms to me the Belvedere Rumor.

This would also mean the new architecture is more of an evolution to the current one, since they can run the current cars on what would be a retooled and modernized plant.

Carrier points that are close enough to just be modified doesn't mean it was evolutionary other than the parenthood of Georgio just means that it was a primary consideration of the design. Rumors are itself was based on CUSW.

No. The new L-Series cars will have an all-new architecture. The STLA Large architecture is an updated version of the FCA Giorgio architecture. A completely different architecture than the L-Series sourced from Mercedes.

Oh, it's good that Bob hasn't found his way here from the Campground in central Indiana, he would argue that it was basically done by the time Daimler showed up and they just parts bin shopped. Honest question are the build points closer to FWD LXs or the E series? It's been too many years since that happened I Brampton is one plant I haven't been too.

It was explained to me (from a chrysler designer back then) that their own RWD platform was done, and they were going ahead with the 99 charger. He even said it was in the parts books, whatever that means. Then the merger happened and "the Germans killed it" (the 99 charger). Personally I think they killed it to make it for themselves as the CLS that came out a few years later calling it the first 4-door coupe, which is exactly what the 99 charger was. Back to the RWD platform, post merger it allowed them use of Mercedes parts bin, which was s-class front suspension and e-class rear suspension plus the NAG1 transmission and everything was mixed together to make the LX platform. So essentially LH + Mercedes parts.

No idea but they would be very silly to use one of their camaro-esq designs considering the current challenger handily outsells it. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! Wouldn't be the first time though...

Side note - any reason why its crickets so far on moparinsiders, allpar, and stellpower regarding cummins recent (Feb 14th) announcement of 6.7 gas motor coming about 2024? Some other outlets already connecting dots it will be coming to Ram HD. Article coming by chance @redriderbob ?

Why would they use it? Other than Cummins name? They already have a gas HD engine, and new engines in the pipeline.

Price of diesel fuel, insane and unreliable emissions systems required for diesels etc. As I understand it would use the same I6 block as the current cummins 6.7 diesel but be a turbo gas engine

Because they will need something above the 6.4 V8 eventually, and everything about it would mate right up to existing. The 8sp gave the 6.4 a new lease on life, but with fords 7.3 they must remain competive and not just in retail market but the medium truck commercial/fleet market.

They already had a light duty gas engine...and here comes the hurricane. Also, the "I6" option throughout the Ram lineup would be good marketing alignment.

True they can work to fit Hurricane to the HD application, and I would think it would be more cost affective than contracting a Cummins gasoline engine.

it would not surprise me that this new I6 cummins is not at all the correct application for Ram 2500/3500. I was just surprised no one really noticed their 2/14 announcement of making a gasoline B6.7 based off the diesel 6.7. I would expect though possibly ram will have one in a truck somewhere getting tested alongside whatever rumored upcoming/new gas engine that may or may not be in the works. or testing alongside the hurricane but i've not heard of that going into HD anytime soon.

6.4 could also be going away, leaving the door open to a 6.7 from cummins
