The front axle of the compact SUV is based on the McPherson principle; the rear axle adopts a sophisticated four-link design. The track widths are 1,584 millimeters (5.2 ft) and 1,576 millimeters (5.17 ft) respectively. The format of the aluminum wheels ranges from 17 and 18 inch – depending on the exterior trim – up to 20 inch in diameter, the latter from Audi Sport GmbH and fitted with size 255/40 tires.

Market launch: in dealerships from the fall
The new Audi Q3 will be manufactured at the Győr plant in Hungary. Vehicles will be delivered in Germany and other European countries in November 2018. As standard, the compact SUV is fitted with the digital instrument cluster, MMI radio including Bluetooth, multifunction leather steering wheel, air conditioning and LED headlights.

Engines

Euro-spec models of the all-new Audi Q3 will be available with four engine choices at launch: three petrol and one diesel. Entry-level petrol models will be powered by the 1.5-liter TFSI unit producing 148hp (150PS) and 184lb-ft (250Nm) of torque. The base Q3 will be badged 35 TFSI and will also feature a cylinder deactivation system, as well as a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive as standard. A six-speed manual will follow on a later date.

Moving up the ladder we find Audi’s 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder TFSI offered in two power versions: the first one is the 40 TFSI, offering 187hp (190PS) and 236lb-ft (320Nm) of torque while the 45 TFSI model gets 226hp (230PS) and 258lb-ft (350Nm). Both of them are paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and the company’s Quattro all-wheel drive system.

The diesel range will start off with the 2.0-liter TDI producing 148hp (150PS) and 250lb-ft (340Nm) of torque. Badged as the Q3 35 TDI, it’ll be initially available with a manual transmission and all-wheel drive, with a seven-speed dual-clutch unit to follow on a later date. Audi also plans to offer a more powerful version of the 2.0-liter TDI, with 187hp (190PS) in the near future.

I am not one for small crossovers, I like it but the grille just looks too large!

This is a first Audi model on MQB A2 platform. It's a sibling to a new generation of European VW Tiguan. It means that it offers more leg and cargo room than Audi Q5. Yes, it's strange but that's a transverse (Inline engine only) vs longitudinal engine orientation platform.

What is the difference between mqb and mqb a2? Because the mqb platform in general already has 2-3 Audi cars on that platform.

It's all MQB. But there are subversions.
A0, A1 and A2.
For B, C or D and upper segments cars.

For example. First version vas MQB A1. Premiere on Audi A3. Then came Škoda Octavia, VW Golf... Of-course a new VW Jetta.
First SUV models on this one are Audi Q2, Škoda Karoq, VW T-Roc

MQB A2 is used for new Passat, Škoda Superb, VW Arteon, VW Tiguan, VW Tiguan Allspace (the one called Tiguan in US)...
The first Audi model on this one is a new Audi Q3.

Latest iteration or version of MQB is the cheapest one. That's MQB A0.
AFAIK there is no car on this platform currently on sale in US.
New VW Polo, Seat Ibiza and Seat Arona, Audi A1 are on this platform.
This platform does not have multilink suspension or a AWD as an option.

Apparently there will also be an RS Q3 and it will come to the United States. Will have a 2.5L turbo inline-5 cylinder supposedly producing over 400 horsepower.

It's not sure thing. I mean Inline 5. There more and more rumors for 2.0 turbo with electric supercharger.

I'm very angry at C&D. AFAIK that's only American car related media outlet which complete blocked access from EU since GDPR started.
