piano black always reminds me of Chinese cars but the fact is, its damn near the hardest parts to make, they basically have to be flaw free. It is truly high end from part produced perspective.

Still prefer leather, GF, a metal finish, or wood.
I just hate piano black. But here it's Okayish.

Just imagine whole or better part of IP as piano black. :sick:

Here is the thing. If it's electric, i.e. without mechanical connection, then it would be easy to use one as on Giulia and Stelvio but this may not be the case.

Yet again. Some people are saying that some interior bits are not as on production Tonale. Gear lever should be one of them. I have no idea if this is true.

The tacked on display has 2 big benefits:
1. can easily be upgraded over the model lifetime

This is the most important feature and why almost every carmaker will push with them in the future.

Upgrades to a bigger screen are far more easier. Actually it was impossible to put bigger screens on some cars. For example Renault Kadjar. Giulia and Stelvio also have this issue.

2 position joystick vs gated position joystick is much harder to use, lawsuit poor for Americans. But for sure takes less room. Yes everything is joystick with different mechanisms.

AFAIK Compass still has mechanical connection of some sort. It's not purely electric gear lever as is on Giulia or Stelvio.

From what I remember BMW with X1 F48 (FWD based car) switched from mechanical to electric gear lever with LCI and consequently they were able to offer the same or similar gear lever as on their RWD based cars.

I prefer the wider touchscreen from the clinic interior. (It’s the same part as used in 500e ). The spyshot seems to use the same screen as Compass refresh.
It's definitely not the Compass screen. That's much taller.

Foremost it's a fingerprint and dust magnet. Couldn't care less how hard it's to produce. Would be great if there are different options for the matte-black area, like on Giulia/Stelvio.

All our joysticks. My Logitech Forza wheel has gates in it shifter also, be assure they are not attached to anything. So it just a style of joystick the mimics a older style automatic. The Stelvio style to position return to center is universally hated in the USA to the point of law suites it was in Jeep and the Brampton cars early in the 8 spd integration. For sure it is less intuitive then a gated system and you do have to visually confirm the selection. Tolerated in high end cars for some reason but disliked in domestics. Regardless the 2 position return takes way less real estate

I made it clear it is not my preference but when material selecting people say I don't want cheap plastic, which I assume mean single process molded directly to application plastics, Gloss black is much not "Cheap plastic" it is expensive, difficult to make well, high scrap rate.... it very much is the high end selection in the application of a plastic component. So from a appointment perspective it is high end..... even though I prefer other treatments more....

People want a matte finish on the plastic. I can speak to what I know - I have matte plastic on the center console for WK2. I much prefer that to glossy plastic.

AH not defending it but it is a error to project ones own preference to a entire market.

I hate glossy plastic. It feels and looks cheap.

Yes, I know. I guess this hatred of mine derives from its use on electronics.
My Fiat Bravo has glossy plastic on the center dashboard and it doesn't look terrible there. It needs to be properly used though.

Just coincidence. Italian-brand development programs are all numbered - Giulia was Progetto 952, Stelvio was Progetto 949. These are resource planning codes, which is why the project numbering doesn’t always follow the launch order: sometimes a budget is created for a project that only really gets going years later.

Tonale is 965. Hornet is 592.

This number means something else.
