Our sister site 5thGenRams.com, got their hands on an internal memo from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will begin ramping up in two weeks. According to our sources, the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) has been building quite a few RamBox models already. However, production issues have been pushing the full run of the popular option further back.

SHAP has been under fire as of lately, due to production issues. This was expected as this is the first time the plant has ever built a body-on-frame vehicle. Most recently in 2016, SHAP was building the unibody Chrysler 200 series. The plant got a complete $1.48 billion investment to completely retool.

The new 2019 Ram 1500 RamBox now featuring a 115-volt outlet and relocated overhead lighting in the box lids to improve illumination. RamBox cargo management system includes versatile, weatherproof, lockable, illuminated and drainable storage bins built into the bed rails.

For more information about the RamBox system or production of the RamBox equipped Ram 1500s, visit 5thGenRams.com.

I got some theories of what is going on, but until I know who the new lower supplier is I keep it between us boys. That is one hell of a deep draw for a thermoformed part. High expertise is needed to pull (almost literally) that off.

Does a manufacturer, when using sublets for parts of the manufacturing process, put in place solid plan B, C, etc for these exact events? Or did @#$^ hit the fan as soon as this supplier when down?
