2019 Ford Edge ST AWD: price leak
By David Zatz

The Ford Edge ST, a new and well-tuned version of their ordinary “SUV” (medium-sized hatchback), is Ford’s first performance crossover, coming long after many competitors.

Ford claims a hefty 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque from their turbo V6. With that much power, all wheel drive is practically a requirement, given the torque steer you’d get in an ordinary front-driver. The company claims best in class power (it helps that the 707-horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat is an SUV, not a crossover).

The 2019 Edge ST will cost $43,350, with well-optioned versions costing around $52,000. That’s about $1,500 more than the Edge Sport, which it’s replacing, according to Automotive News. That includes a $2,695 brake-and-wheel package, various driver assistance and convenience items, and all wheel drive. The suspension and black mesh grille, copied years ago from the 1994 Dodge Ram, are unique to the ST.

The company also sells a four-cylinder “hot hatch,” the Focus ST. The base Edge has a 250-hp 2-liter turbo engine and an eight-speed transmission, which is roughly comparable to the 2019 Jeep Cherokee’s optional 270-horse 2-liter four-cylinder and nine-speed automatic (the base engine on the Cherokee is a mere 180 horsepower).

I've always liked the Edge, and thought this is a good way to spice up this segment.

I think it looks pretty good. They should have flattened the bottom of the grille though and called it "Mustang inspired."

I've liked the Edge since it debuted. This newer style really looks good in Sport guise and now ST. A friends parents have a 2015 Edge Titanium 2.0 Ecoboost and have been very happy with it. I think this is the sweet spot the Journey replacement should be aiming for.

Hmmm this or a Durango R/T...... that being said you will be able to easily get 5-7k off sticker once these hit the lot and sit for a while.

That was the point of my post, I'd rather get a Durango R/T for the same price. Heck at the $50k mark you are awfully close to a used Durango SRT($56k in my area)

I'd be looking really hard at a used SRT Durango at those prices. I posted me review of the Durango SRT late last night and needless to say I was very impressed.
